I can't understand why a lot of people don't, its enjoyable and easy going.

i agree with OP.

this film is a simple FUN heist type film that i can watch over and over and i never get tired of it.

i give it a solid 8/10.

well since my first post in here nearly 8 years ago and while the movie held strong for me for years, i just finished re-watching it a moment ago on Feb 6th 2017 and while i still like the movie it lost most of it's flair.

6/10 (a mild Thumbs Up) ; so the movie is still enjoyable enough for me to see it again i just don't think all that highly of it anymore.

I agree. I have watched it countless times. It improves a lot with repeated viewings. I think the "haters" mostly has just watched it once and focused on the "plot". And it's really the dialogue and acting that makes this movie fun.

I don't understand why more people don't like it, but I've long given up expecting my tastes to match the mainstream.

Maybe there isn't enough action and explosions for them?

It is a great fun movie. Some great lines and very gold chemistry.
It was never supposed to win any oscars.
