Why didn't they air the kiss in the pilot?

Ive been trying to figure out...why did they cut out the kiss? The rest of the scene was there except the kiss...does anyone know?

Sarah Wayne Callies lobbied to get the kiss cut from the pilot b/c she felt it was something completely out of character for Det. Jane Porter. And if you watch the 8 episodes, you'll completely understand what she meant. Jane didn't actually start to really have "feelings" for Tarzan til the last part of the short-lived series. It was actually in an interview she did with Cult Times Magazine. If you want to read it, check it out here:

yeah i guess thats true...i finished watching the series...I actually think that Porter DID have feelings for Tarzan very early on but was too scared and proper to display her feelings.

Who wouldnt have feelings for a mysterious handsome guy like the Tarzan character but Jane had feelings for Michael and kissing Tarzan so soon would not been proper.

I think the show could have used it to be honest. I can see why Sarah asked for it to go but I think it really harmed Tarzan's character. He seemed like a Cullen-like stalker but it made more sense if she had made a move and Tarzan got confused because she pulled back after that. Its not how the laws of nature work. He wants her, she wants him, they go and make babies.

Please don't compare Cullen to Tarzan, I hate what those book series has done to all of romantic literature. I loved the kissing scene but it did seem abit too early for that in the pilot episode, we all know that Jane and Tarzan end up together but not so soon.
