Characters I would have loved to have seen

So much I would have loved to have seen from this series like the character La, Rokoff, Paulvitch even John's cousin, the one who tries to steal Jane from him.

I think the series would have been great with a few minor changes, maybe take the book but change the time period to the 21th century. Make Jane a college student studying biology and zoology and stuff she could be doing in Africa when she lives there with Tarzan. They could keep Richard and Kathleen as supporting characters.

These are just my ideas.

great ideas you have there..its so frustrating that the show had been cancelled..i really love to see sarah and travis on screen..they both have great chemistry..if there would be another tarzan series with different ideas and casts i don't think any better actor that can play tarzan as good as travis did..

reply

Another idea would have been if they just stuck with the books, you know maybe they can take the book into bits and bits of pieces. From John's birth to his being raised by the apes, from the arrival of Jane to nealy losing her.

Maybe invent the Esapement or I think it was called Escarpment from the classic Tarzan movies and up there, gravity is gone or low and yet people can breath at least if they can make the climb. Trees, animals and fruits that all seemed like they should have been exstinct are there breathing, growing and breeding.

Oh I have so many ideas, not that a modern Tarzan was such a bad idea just wished they stuck to the book.

yeah..its pretty weird that they just developed another storyline for this series..it would be very nice to see tarzan in the jungle instead of city..or maybe they just having some problems to shoot with the jungle scenes and apes or any swing stuff like that..the only things i'm impressed with this series is tarzan character and jane tough personality..but the rest..i dont know..the writer should have done a better job..maybe they got stuck with their own ideas..and cancelled the show..without giving the fans explanation about the cancellation..but i'm agreed with you..they should just follow the book..

sorry..my english is not that good..=)

Oh well thank God for Fanfic, it is sad that no one has made fanfic stories of all the Tarzan adaptations. I have only seen this tv series and the disney one (which was cute BTW but that is for babbies).

reply

the disney one was a good start to tell the story of tarzan..well it was made for young audiences..but it such a waste to have a great actor to potray tarzan character..but with that type of story line..kind of unprofessional to cancel a show since it was adapted from book where they can just refer to the original ideas and follow the storylines..still why WB/CW must cancel a great show like tarzan..but its good that they keep smallville till the last season..what a relief..

Smallville for me was great till season 4, and until I got tired of Chloe Sullivan. I learned that CW is a shallow show, they would only cast pretty people for villians or good guys. Always they never look for great talents and I know they were cheap because they could write great episodes worth a dime.

But that is just me, I still watch the Tarzan episodes that I have recorded when it was on the air.

Chloe Sullivan character is not based on comic book..but obviously she had a great impact in smallville..i didnt like her in smallville..however CW is making new show Arrow..looks promising..wish they did the same to Tarzan..just like you said..followed the book..

reply

That was my problem with Smallville, Chloe was too much everywhere and too much of everything, there wasn't any moment where Clark solved his own problems, cases, reached his own conclusions, stood on his own. I wished that Clark was nerdy with glasses (no thick frames), was such a quick learner, even spoke multiple language. And it wasn't all that faithful to the comic book character, I would have loved to see it done in a different way.

As for Arrow, yes I heard of that and I heard CW's take on my favorite beloved show from the 80's; Beauty and the Beast. It looks like Smallville all over again with KK and her lame acting.

I think the channel was better when it was just WB not CW. Like the disney channel when it played (excuse my language) really good *beep* not this teen bop nonsenses.

yeah..i heard about that too..looks like CW loved to work with Kristin Kreuk..is the story line similar or diff. from the 80's?? i'm not really a fan of this show but i will try to watch it..hope it worthwhile..

its hard to find a show which based on comic or book that really portray the ideas and character in it..kind of having trouble to watch smallville with so much opposite characters of Clerk Kent from the comic..

as long as CW make a show based on superhero genre..i will certainly watch it..and yeah..WB is much more preferable..

KK is cute and all but I don't think she is talented maybe it is because I don't see her stepping up enough. Yes it is different from the 80's original storyline because one: Catherine is a cop now not a DA, two: Vincent has a full name, three: Vincent isn't a physical looking beast, he just has a scar on his face and I am guessing he goes Hulk-like-monster when in defense. I am seeing it for the curiousity but I don't think I will stick around to watch it. It just seems so wrong for them to do this, if they wanted to make a BATB show then they can do it but don't base it off my beloved show.

hollywood seems to run out of ideas..they basically just do some remake..change and add a little bit of ideas..then gain profit..it is so difficult to satisfy each audiences coz we all have diff. opinion towards the show they have made..sometimes we prefer the previous version and vice versa..i still remember..back then..WC cancelled almost of their shows..take example of Aquaman..Bird of Prey..Tarzan..just wondering what is the point that they created this shows at first place..

I think TV shows had series about taste and class more about the story then about how to make the actors look good in all scenes. Like Roswell, I saw attractive actors and not about physical ones more about just inner beauty that shows when they perform with all their training. The actors I had seen on Smallville and etc, they are all just pretty faces instructed by their director on how to perform in three or four step ways.
