Hao/Zeke based on Sephiroth ?

long-hair, super cool, super bad-ass, main antagonist, was good (or good intentions) and the strongest, went mad ? .. well ? :D

Interesting. I have to agree with those.

But Hao's intentions of being so baddass were good.He wanted to make a better World, full of shamans. Sephiroth was a good guy at first, but now He only wants to destroy the World and use it as a space ship XD. So Hao's still a good guy from that point of view, point which Sephiroth fails after he gone "mad".

he went with the spaceship thing in Advent Children i think (and even then he wanted a 'better future' eventually (which excluded humans though :)) like Hao) .. in FFVII he wanted power so he could rid the planet of humans and have it destined for the 'ancients' (afaik he believed himself and Jenova to be that ancient race, of which Aeris was) .. I think everything can be justified from some POV .. anyway he didn't want to just kill everything and everyone completely (more like reshape in his image .. same as Darkseid for ex), like, say Perfect Cell from DBZ ("I am the Universes End" (c) :))

I fought the law and the law won.

Don't think he's based on Sephiroth, A bunch of villains were good, became mad/evil, and are badass, that's pretty much the formula used in the creation of bad ass villains. Just look at Arthur from Warcraft3, or Darth vader, *beep* even the main villain of a story I'm writting falls under that description (come to think about it, he has a bunch in common with Hao, hmm)

The long hair just helps with the whole being awesome thing :D and if he isn't the strongest then he isn't a menacing villain ;)
