Did they or didn't they (SPOILERS)

Saw this on TV twice now, and maybe it’s the way the film was cut for commercial, but it’s not quite clear to me… Did Vittorio & Rita sleep together? It showed him comforting her after her disastrous introduction to her real father, and she seemed to demand a lot more affection than he was willing to give her, then it cuts to him waking up in her bed (appearing to be wearing boxers) and he goes home and cries …???

And if I recall from the revelation at the end, they aren't even related -
Mario was married to Christina, who cheated on him & had Rita
Theresa was raped in Valle Del Sole and had Vito, but her brother Mario raised him with Christina as their own...
