Does anyone know if this show shares any writers w/The Big Bang Theory?

I pulled out my DVD set and began re-watching a few days ago and saw a number of dead on similarities, mainly: Freidman is the essence of a teenaged Howard Wolowitz; the whole God vs. science issue that comes through with Sheldon's mother; and the episode where Luke and Wolowitz attend the bad sci-fi Schlocapoluza vs. the Big Bang gangs decision to hide our from a needy sick Sheldon at the Planet of the Apes Marathon. If the shows don't share writers, then my guess is the writers and producers of Big Bang were influenced by it.

And there's also the obsession with using rock paper scissors to settle disputes, along with Grace referring to Luke as Spock as one point.

Actually, I just think that TV writers have a very narrow concept of nerds & geeks. Friends of mine who are true nerds & geeks HATE Big Bang Theory. They are angry that nerd/geek culture has been co-opted by hipsters and turned into a cartoon version of the way they really are. I think there's some truth to that.

You know what other show has a HUGE amount of common themes and plots and similar characters to JoA? Friday Night Lights. It struck me so hard when I watched FNL the second time around I actually had to make a list of all the things FNL seemed to pluck right from the minds of the JoA writers.
