Did Donald Trump get his inspiration from this show?

His Wall policy is very similar to the one in season 4

reply

Hillary's donating to her own charity is very similar to the Bluths funneling money back to themselves as well...

It's like both candidates were cast members!

reply

Mitch Hurwitz had said in an interview he wished he could do season 5 before the election happened because he had some ideas. It won't happen but it's still funny how he (and South Park) were so far ahead of the curve with this election.

Funnily enough I came to this board to ask the exact same thing.
I'm re-watching Season 4 now and it'd most likely be considered too on the nose if it was aired in 2016.

Same here! Also, George dressing like a woman was a little preview of his role in "Transparent".

I'm halfway through season 4. It's not as bad as I remember. Basically, I had to tell myself that it's not as funny as previous seasons, but it's extremely clever.

Whenever I hear trump talk about his wall I just picture George sr driving in circles to make it look like there's a wall...man this shows the best

reply

And Buster throwing up from motion sickness.

reply

Yeah that too lol

reply

Hahhhahahah that is exactly the first thing I thought of when Trump started talking about building the wall!!

If only their property was just a few feet to the left Lol

reply

The Wall has been something that conservatives have been talking about for years. And Trump has been Tweeting about running since 2012, so its possible that he tweeted about the wall then (since season 4 was released in 2013, it would have been fresh on the minds of the writers).

reply

It's not just a conservative thing. It's about a matter of security and without control boarders and/or walls to keep out illegal immigrants/potential criminals you're allowing any and everyone to pass as they please.

reply

I just don't see a wall being much of a deterrent. People are willing to travel hundreds of miles and uproot their life. Do you think that having to climb a little bit is going to make them turnaround and go home? They could just use ladders, dig a tunnel, or learn to scale the walls.

reply

Who actually carries a ladder for miles and miles? No one.
Dig a tunnel? Certainly gotta have a shovel.
Climb the walls? Have a rope and the sorts.

All of it is to make it harder for illegals and criminals to stay out of a country and as long as it's done right no one should really be against it. It's in the best interest of everyone.

reply

Seems a bit of a stretch considering building a wall isn't something that one need to see in a show to consider it. In Europe, due to the EU the European countries have no control boarders and that is a terrible move since anyone can ditch one country to another without providing any sort of ID.

I'm against it because it leaves countries vulnerable for criminals to commit an attack and then leave.

UK's going to build a wall in Calais, France but I feel this is pointless and unnecessary. It wasn't ever needed until the "refugees" became an issue so building a wall in this regard isn't going to solve anything, it'll just make it harder for them to get over and even then, when they attack the drivers the drivers are left at their mercy.

There's actually a quiz online called "Who Said It: Trump or Lucille Bluth?"
They give you quotes from each and honestly at times it's hard to choose. If I hadn't all but memorized AD it would have been a challenge.

Here it is!
