AMAZING FILM!!!!!

I loved this movie!!!!!! I so did not know what to expect since ostentatcious MTV was backing this project afterall, however I watched it from start to finish and it was absolutely brilliant. How beautiful, fresh, poignant, and original. A soundtrack and DVD MUST be released, does anybody know if this will happen?? It must, I'll be first in line for my DVD!!!!!

reply

I already know of a soundtrack (as of this time, only available on MTV.com's shop) but no clue yet as to a DVD release. but hopefully!

reply

you're being sarcastic, correct? because if you're not, you need to get your head examined. besides the terrible acting and bad editing, the writers of this script didn't even attempt to do emily bronte justice...bad, cheesey lines and just a really bad adapting job all around. i don't mind modern updates on classics, as long as they're good, and this was most certainly not that!

reply

You must be a sad, lonely person...it sounds to me like you want to get into the film industry & you just dont have what it takes, so you will tear apart anything that has quality. This was a fantastic movie, and a very good modern rendition of the story...I doubt you even have the intelligence to read Emily Bronte in the first place.

reply

It's ridiculous to assume that because someone says they do not like this MTV original "film" they're a "sad, lonely person" that "want to get into the film industry" and "don't have what it takes." It's quite obvious that you lack any real taste in film, or you wouldn't be defending something of this caliber. And just so you know, I do have the intelligence to read Bronte, and have read Wuthering Heights multiple times, so please spare me that argument.

Continue looking to MTV for quality films. I'm sure you enjoy TNT made-for-television-movies as well.

reply

This movie was horrendous...Seriously...it was bad, anyone with half-a-brain would know this and not put on blinders, just because it's their beloved MTV.

reply

THE MOVIE IS VERY GOOD, BUT AT THE END DID SHE DIE OR WHAT? THAT'S WHAT I'M WONDERING, IF YOU KNOW CAN YOU LET ME KNOW THANKS BYE

reply

She died in the end leaving a daughter

reply

So that was her ghost on the light house?

reply

I Started watching the movie in the middle, and I couldnt take my eyes off the film! I was surprised it was so good, I checked my tv guide to see if it will come on again, but I didnt see it. If anyone has any info on it please tell me. I loved that movie!
I think it is her ghost on the lighthouse. It was so sad, I started crying at the end... sniff sniff

reply

That's interesting because I laughed at the end. Hum.

reply

I thought it was a great movie but I'm reading all these negative reviews that make me sad :( The guy who posted what happened in the book had a lot of good points. Unfortunatly I haven't had a chance to get my hands on a copy of the novel (damn hick town). Of course if you worship the book and compare the movie to the book, you're going to despise it. But if you watch it for the movie itself, it is quite entertaing. I loved, I thought the soundtrack was great, and me being a total chick bawled my eyes out at the end (mostly because Heath reminded me of my ex). So I think people should lay off it a bit. I've seen a lot of MTV movies and this is the first since 2Ge+her that I really enjoyed.

Well, I didn't care much for this movie. I've never read the book, I just found the way this story progressed to be very annoying to me. It appeared that they tried to make Heath look like Kurt Cobain and the music was totally off for that image. I'm very glad to read that the original story was much better than this. Cate was too wishy-washy about who she loved in this modernization for me to enjoy. Goes to show that I should spend my time more wisely than to waste it by watching something like this on MTV.

reply

Again, I have to say that I really liked this MTV film because it was relatable to me, I could definitely identify. And yes, Cate was wishy-washy, but she is a woman, and speaking as a woman I'm just stating that we can be very fickle. Besides, that's the way the character of Cate was written. I read the novel in highschool, and have to say it was one of the only classic novels that I've ever read and didnt love. In fact I despised the book and because I hated it so much I thought I was going to hate this film as well, but ironically ended up loving it. The only other classic novel that I've hated was Pride and Prejudice, I happen to be a fan of classic literatutre. But anyways, regardless of the fact that this film has received split reviews, will it ever be released on DVD? I truly hope so.

reply

This movie was terrible. I've started to read the book and I hope it is much better than this film. The acting wasn't too bad and they did the best with what they were given which wasn't much.

Sheesh, I don't see how you can't like Pride and Prejudice and still be a fan of classic literature. Oh well...

reply

Go to MTV.com . They are preselling the dvd right now.

reply

I have never read the book, but it's not that you really needed to. For those that are appalled by the fact that it isn't exactly the same as the original novel, don't be. It's the MTV version for sobbing out loud, it's not supposed to be exactly the same, it's loosely based around the novel. The characters may not be the same, but you don't have to bash the film. I thought that it was wonderfully done. Even though at some points, the acting was cheesy, but there is no perfect acting. Mike Vogel did an excellent job! It's nice to see that he can play a variety of characters ... he was so, well, good. Each actor/actress did an amazing job in his/her own way. It may be 'one long music video' as some may say, but a damn good music video. I've still got the songs stuck in my head. Besides, what do you expect from MTV? Hello - music. I know that the DVD came out on January 27th. I've rented it a few times, the only reason I know that it is out, is becuase I'm a huge Mike Vogel fan, and I work at a movie store, so I was watching for it. Rent it, it's awesome! Appreciate it for what it is :)

reply

I didn't really like the book. I had to read it for an English class. The only thing I liked was the very end. I'm curious to see how they made such a weird plot into a modern mtv movie...

reply

Even if you look beyond the fact that it is absolutely NOTHING like the book and does not do Emily Bronte justice, it was still pretty crap, sorry. Some of the acting was good, but mostly it was like watching a teen soap opera, which makes sense being as that was probably the target age group. It was just a seriously dumbed down, shallower version of the novel without any of the complex relationships. Also, they changed the personality of every character in the novel which was totally annoying.

I has been a long time since I have seen this film and I remember when I firts saw this my mother was out of town and I started crying while I saw this film liek the whole time I was on the couch just crying my eyes out. Thats how beautiful I thought this film was, and it is really sad that so many people don't like the film.

I know this is a dead thread and whatever but i wonder if anyone that liked it ACTUALLY read the book????????

Nothing againts modern adaptaions. the aussie version of macbeth was awsome ... but admittingly...i didnt read it all. so my guess is the lovers of this movie.... have not read the book!

reply

I'm so obsessed with this movie. I've never seen any of the other movies that were called "Wuthering Heights" but, I love this one because its like present day. I've heard many people say "its not like the book" and I really don't care. I've never read the book, don't really want to neither. But, I loved the music. Mike's and Ericka's voices were perfect together. And Mike is so gorgeous. Idk how many times I've rented this movie. But, I've seen it more than a dozen times. I need to go out and buy it soon.

The DVD was released years ago and I bought mine at Amazon.com for $10

No film has done justice to the novel yet.

This version wasn't a good movie, but it was entertaining for me. A product for teenage audiences.

Anyway, I have to say that I prefer this version to the 2011 by Andrea Arnold, which is, by far, the worst movie I've ever seen.

I loved the songs from the movie too. I think they are the best thing of the movie.

reply

I haven't actually read Wuthering Heights but have seen several versions of the story, which I find very odd.

I think Suri Krishnamma made a decent fist of this and it looked amazing. As someone else has said Mike Vogel was excellent as Heath and, as a bonus, has a good singing voice.

This has suddenly appeared on Netflix UK which is how I managed to watch it today.

By the way, Suri Krishnamma went to the same school as my grandchildren!
