I cant understand why people are bashing this movie! I think its a really good movie and i enjoyed it all from the beginning to the very end.. though its a sad and dark movie, it gripped me. The only complaint i may have is the ending wich was nothing that got me by suprise. That does not take away the fact that its a good movie, so therefore im shocked to se that it only got 2.8 so far.
shareYeah it is definately not as bad as they say. And certainly no worse than other swedish films including most of Mr Nutleys films, not to mention Mr Sundvall, the most overrated filmmaker in Sweden.
Endre is good as usual and they are really pretty in their costumes.
The majority of people just don't seem to like meditative films at all. You can bet if there'd been a climactic siege toward the end they'd be praising it to high heaven. Instead we ended up with a film that actually makes you think all the way through it, which is anathema to people's expectations these days.

I don't think it deserves all this bashing either. Okay, the quality of the acting maybe wasn't that high, especially not if you consider, that all the main characters were played by well-known Swedish actors (and I usually don't notice bad acting, so maybe that's saying something, but still...). And there were some factual errors, like the crusader era and the plague era were in two different centuries, and there weren't any Jews in Sweden until the 17th century. But nevertheless, even though this movie might not be the best movie, that I've ever seen, or even the best movie about Medieval times, that I've ever seen, I still enjoyed it. I would rate it 7/10.
