Best Scene of the movie

The scene which still haunts me is the one where he takes a glass of water from the boy at the train station.
I mean u can see Mohan (SRK) breaking down into fragments as he takes the water...
Good movie... nice music and remarkably different story

The water is critical.

reply

Yes, the water scene was poignant.

But I have to say, the scene that made my heart flutter was at the outdoor cinema. Seeing Shah Rukh Khan dancing in that context, alone, and with the children ... the music, the lighting, the timing ... it was magic!
What a heart stirring movie this is. Deeply touching.
I cannot recommend it more highly.

Water scene not only chnage Mohan's way of looking people but the film turns rapidley.

SRK in his best film and best scene ever.

reply

i liked the way the film showed lots of little contrasts between Mohan and the village environment like,as you guys have mentioned the water and the mineral water, and also the shower scene inhis camper van and the one in the house using water from the well + sleeping, Mohan in camper van and Mohan on the bed in the house. Thecontrasts work really well cos they almost show the tranistion Mohan goes through just via little differences in his day to day activity.

I impressed and cried, When poor man talked with mohan for gave rent of earth. who could not gave rent to mohan.

reply

i also liked the panchiyat scene where srk claimed that if we didnt do anything our country would go down, i believe that that scene was enacted very real.

reply

yeah for sure eh..the water, when he goes to the poor person's house and the whole discussion when he says he isnt proud of India. Those scenes were really powerful.

i must thank u bilal like many others for bringing in such a beautiful opinion and also all of u who feel that swades is the best movie india has ever produced... the day i watched swades i remember i decided to come back to my hometown .. leaving my job and everything from delhi... i made a statement to myself that this is a movie... and probably 10 years from now and 10 years back ... i havent & will not be able to witness such a phenomenal movie.. it really is the movie which can turn tides...
Personally speaking although i cannot single out a particular scene in the movie...
but yet i think the few scenes which deserve to be mentioned are:
1. when SRK & his friend visit the old age home to enquire abt kaveri amma and the old lady says that kaveri is lucky
2. when srk goes to request the poor guy to send his children to send them in school and he replies that his daughter is married
3. when srk is asked abt his cast
4. the scene where srk & geeta argue
5. the entire sequence before & after wo taara song
6. when srk goes to collect money from poor farmer
7. when srk is asked abt america and voice his opinion abt india and he replies he doesnt think india is great
8. the sequence where john tells him " ok! Mohan, go lite ur bulb"

and the special mention i wud give to the song "dekho na" because thats the most romantic song of the enterprise which will make u smile.... and blush and evoke the 1st love feelings.. this song is the brilliant song of the movie despite not being the one when u listen it..

i am not sure how many know this but Swades is a movie which was turned down by R. Madhavan, Abhishek Bachan, Hrithik and Aamir Khan and i am sure that they would now feel that they lost on a very good opportunity. SRK who has always accepted films for friends [ baazigar was turned down by akshay kumar & ajay devgan, darr was turned down by aamir, ajay, saif and many others and there are many such movies] is no doubt having the last laugh...

SRK was no doubt fantastic and its his best performance... KUDOS to SRK & ashutosh for believing and making such a wonderful movie...

i think we shud thank both and the entire crew for giving us " SWADES - We the people"

THANK U SRK, Ashutosh Gowariekar & the Cast & Crew

reply

the whole movie !

reply

I second that Kanis, I thought the whole movie was absolutely fantastic, the best!!

reply

Well for me,

THE WHOLE MOVIE is a BEST SCENE of the movie.

I might sound hilarious, but i think thts the truth. We cannot separate the scenes from on another. All the scenes have been beautifully weaved together.

The movie not only induces a feeling of patriotism, but also TEACHES a lot many things. Like the SWABHIMAN, ATMA-NIRBHARTA, Knowledge is important etc.

Yeh tara woh tara explains SEA IS NOT MADE FROM A DROP OF WATER

Ramleela also teaches us so many things...

Yeh jo Des hai tera (taught me why I was born)

theres so many things in a single scene.....the movie is the best one ever made.

I wuld also like to make one thing clear that AAMIR KHAN DIDNT REJECT THE ROLE OF MOHAN BHARGAVA. Infact the rol was never offered to AK. Ashutosh Gowariker said in an interview that he didnt consider AK for the role becuase he thought that people wouldnt accept the fact that AK doesnt feel anything for his country. I mean, in a sensehe was right, but AK would have had a greater impact on the people. I say this because the fan following of SRK will not say ki SWADES is his greatest movie. On the other hand, fans of AK & other people will say i AK would have done a better job.

Also AK is all over the mvie. The film's MAHURAT PRAYERS were done by AK himself. YAADON KI BARAAT is AK's 1st film. (He must have given the rightsf or the film frm his uncle).

No doubt. The water cup scene at the station is probably the most moving scene.
Another one could when Mohan and Melaram were eating while the family (of that financially poor man) looks on.

There are some other scenes between Gayatri and Shahrukh, which I won'e mention.

reply

the scenes were extra beautiful coz of Rahmans background....no doubt about that..Mind blowing Stuff!!!!

reply

well Swades is a masterpiece ......each and every scene rocks......but the two that immediately come to mind at the mention of Swades are....

- Kaveriamma's joy when she sees Mohan
- the train and water buying sequence
- and the whole song: "Yeh Jo Des Hain Tera"

reply

Swades rocked!

Mohan buying water from the kid at the station
Mohan talking to weaver while eating a dry chapati
The road music in the camper - reminded me of innumerable road trips my family took
The old woman looking at the light bulb...

The music, the music - I love this movie!!

reply

water cup scene was great ..
but i kinda liked the dhoti scene
delicious

reply

Forgot that one - yes
Mohan bathing in camper, then at the well!!

The scene that touched me was when Mohan comes to the village and Kaveri Amma sees him at the door steps after so long. The feelings on here face and the love in her eyes just touched my heart and yes.. made me cry..!
I've seen the movie alomost 7-8 times and still I feel seeing it again and again ..

reply

Mohan awkwardly dancing with the kids in yeh tara - so refreshing after the endless choreographed numbers in films.

reply

I agree

reply

yer that scene was amazing in terms of severity of the movie.
a personal favourite was when when SRK is leaving with mela ram to collect money and before he leaves he talks to Gayatri. Gayatri is like 'who told you im going to miss you"(in hindi). then SRK so swiftly n charmingly says "Tumare ankhon" . "They tell all" (in hindi).

Don: Asia ka sab underworld ke meh badshaah hoon......... I AM THE KING

reply

I have watched this movie more than 10 times and although I would agree with most of the scenes mentioned above, my personal favourites would be the scenes that portrayed the romance between Mohan and Gita.... especially,

1. The scene where they first meet at the bookstore and Mohan is bowled over by Gita's beauty.
2. The scene where Mohan tells Gita that he knows she is gonna miss him... "tumhari aankhen... sab keh deti hain" and she feels she does like him.
3. When Gita tells Mohan that she likes him and the whole Dekho Na sequence.
4. Mohan feeling uneasy when he finds out Gita is looking for a suitable groom, and his glee when he swings on the pole upon knowing that she rejected the guy.
5. Gita's expression when Mohan asks her to calculate 23.3 * 33.9 and her sweet smile when Mohan bows to her after her calculation...

I can watch this movie again and again just for Gayatri Joshi... very sweet, simple girl and I dont care what ppl say of her acting... she is damn beautiful, especially in the Saawariya song!

Apart from that, I think the Ye Jo Des Hai Tera sequence was really nice/ haunting (in a nice way)... it's a song I still frequently listen to... Rahman's voice is magical, prob the best song he has sung...
