reply

Then you should see Blue Velvet, or anything else by David Lynch.
Much weirder.

Why can't a heterosexual guy
Tell a heterosexual guy
That he thinks his booty is fly?

reply

This movie isn't weird at all.

reply

blue velvet huh? never seen that one, but I'll definitely look it up cause I don't think movies can get much wierder than this one!

surprise im real:
and why is that? I was chocked by how this movie turned out...

What exactly is "weird" about this film?

reply

Everything! the relationship they have with eachother, the father who is interested in the girl wich his son likes. the youngest son who leaves his...yeah you know what.. on the lockers etc etc etc..
it's just...WIERD! and it kind of gave me the creeps :P

I suppose we just have different opinions of what defines "weird".

reply

haha yeah I think so :P
I actually watched this with my sister and she also thought this was one of the wiredest films ever! well did you find it any good? I tought I was medioker, I don't understand the 7.7 rating. For me it was a 5/10 not more.

I thought this movie was great. A realistic look at relationships, as opposed to the crop of corny movie bogus that seems to be ruling our standard theaters these days. I can see what you mean by weird, it's very off-beat, filled with dark humor. Irony runs awild in it. A lot of the humor is presented for the more literature driven fans, not to call anyone here a "philistine." (Har, har, har.) I think there's definitely a particular audience and can understand why some might not dig it.

Happy movie watching!

If you're going to give an opinion, either learn to spell or use a spell checker, I am begging you.

Homosexuality is for gays!

reply

I think your weird for giving that garbage shutter a 7/10 ;D

reply

The Original Thai Shutter is a fantastic film. The American version is dire. If it was the American one you were on about when you made the comment you really need to watch the other (2004) one.

Back in the womb its much too real.
In pumps life that I must feel.

reply

This movie is a masterpiece. Maybe you didn't understand the complexities of the human interactions.

reply

"I actually watched this with my sister and she also thought this was one of the wiredest films ever!"

I'd say that just means you influenced each other in reaching that conclusion. The claim isn't given any more ground with this piece of information; only less.

And I'm sure you know by now, but the word is weirdest, not "wierdest" or "wiredest".

Sad story. You got a smoke?

reply

Thank you!!!

You perfectly summed up how I felt after watching this movie. The little kid creeped me out the most actually.

~ nothing is as perfect as you can imagine it ~

reply

It's "weird" .. not the movie, the spelling of the word "weird".

reply

There's a clip of "Blue Velvet" in the movie.

I don't think the movie is weird, I think the parents were so self centered, the didn't notice the pain the kids were in. Unfortunately, that happens in real life all the time.

reply

This is probably amongst the most normal films I've ever seen.

Watch visions of suffering...

reply

I thought it was a great show.

reply

The only "weird" thing about this movie is that it is more realistic than 90% of the movies out there.

This movie is brilliant, raw, and real.

reply

Yes, wish they did a follow up. Great characters and great cast.

reply

I've seen much weirder movies than this.

In the words of Otto:
Zeppelin Rulllesss!!

reply

the only weird thing was frank, which was pretty unsettling.

Everything else seemed like it was plucked out of real life yet. The more you think about it, life is really weird.

reply

As long as we're going there, go see A Boute De Souffle as well. Another weird and good movie.

reply

I think if this was weird for you, then you should be thankful everyday that you didn't experience anything in your upbringing that would make this seem "wierd" to you. You had it luckier than a lot of kids do. Reality is unfortuantely "wierder" than fiction and this was not the weirdest that kids experience from their disfunctional upbringing today. Unfortantely. I wish it was. And no, agree with the other posters, although this was based on some elements of a true story, there are much "weirder" films out there. And "blue velvelt" doesn't even touch them. So if you think this is weird, don't go looking for strange disfunctional tales of family dynamics that can screw up kids. For real.

Change the world.

Seriously, the thing that weirded me out the most was that this movie was my life on the screen. I am Laura Linney's character (not so slutty)...but a divorcee with three sons....an ex JUST LIKE Jeff Daniels' character and an eldest son EXACTLY like Walt when he was that age. Very self-righteous. It was so real and amazing and touched me like no movie ever has. Its one of my favorite movies ever. So well acted, such a perfect music score to fit the mood, too.
