I read the script

My cousin worked on the film and, knowing I'm such an Austen-fan, he sent me his script when they finished filming. The script is okay. Its kind of like Bridget Jones Diary but sticks closer to the novel and is set in Utah. The proper character names are used, apart from Wickham, who is now called Jack for no reason in particular. The Bennet sisters are now housemates. Jane is Puerto Rican and Elizabeth's best friend, so no Charlotte. No Mr and Mrs Bennet either. Darcy is still English. They follow the plot of the novel but it feels very squeezed in places. The major changes are a finale in Las Vegas where all the characters try to stop Lydia marrying Wickham and Collins marries Mary instead of Charlotte. Overall it felt a lot like Clueless, right down to the menstruation jokes. Apparently, it is really low budget. I think the budget was $350,000. Seems like a lot to me but my cousin tells me most commericals cost more, so I've no idea what it'll be like. He also said nearly all the crew are still students and most didn't get paid to work on it. I'm still excited to see it.

That seems like an awfully small budget. I'm starting to wonder if this is a direct-to-video production. Thanks for the info.

I'm pretty sure it's going to theatres, at least in a limited way. I think it'll start in Utah and California and go from there.

Is there anything else you can tell us about the script? Good and bad things. I am SO excited for this film! Is there a trailer?

So... this is basically a modern version of Pride and Prejudice? Didn't they already do that? Bridget Jones' Diary? I mean look, they used the same Darcy for goodness sake. I think they beat P&P to death, brought it back to life then killed it slowly. Leave it with Colin Firth and Jennifer Ehale(?) folks. They know what they are doing. Just my opinion. I saw who they pick as Mr Darcy, his... um hair is a lot like Colin Firth's, curly and black. It is written that he can speak French, ride, fence and do a whole lot of other things but I highly doubt he needs to ride down the streets of Utah or something. *shrugs*. I don't think I'm going to like this movie very much...

At least Bridget Jones didn't make us expect the story to follow pride and prejudice exactly, but this movie sounds horrible! Why don't people evr accept something and move on! It's like those bad disney sequels to classic movies.

Is there something wrong with following the plot of a novel you are adapting? I always thought that was one of the main points. You're not a very happy person, are you?

Yeah hughluver13!

Actually, the movie DOES after all have a Charlotte! Here is the link where they show a picture of the actress (Carmen Rasmusen from American Idol); http://newsnet.byu.edu/story.cfm/44740
Hope that link works for you. I got it off the officail site which is prideprejudice.com
Thanks!
