Hey, the trailer's available on the web!

And it looks pretty good, too!

The trailer does look good. The actress playing Elizabeth looks very cute and the red-headed girl (Lydia?) is really funny. My favourite part was Mr Darcy asking out Elizabeth in the library/bookshop(?). The "strangely attractive" line was hysterical. It looks like a clever update on the proposal scene from the novel. I want to see more!

Does anyone know when and where the film will be released? I've still got my fingers crossed that it will play in Britain.

reply

The film is scheduled for a Nov. 21 release in the U.S.

It is being distributed by Excel Entertainment, so distribution inquiries could be made there.

I have seen a rough cut (rough sound, no music, pre color correction, etc.), and it is a terrific film. Very spry adaptation that looks gorgeous.

Thanks for the information. If you don't mind my asking, how did you get to see a rough cut? Can you tell us anything else about the film?

reply

I don't mind.

I screened a rough cut twice for fluidity, continuity, editing efficacy, etc., with the director and editor. Both are former university students of mine, and both highly accomplished (they worked together on the award-winning short film "The Snell Show").

I'm reticent to say much else about the film (I may have a built-in prejudice) except that I think it will do very well, surprise the naysayers, and be a repeat viewing experience for many.

We, too, hope the film gets to the UK (the director is Scottish, by the way).

Aw it does look good! I'm so glad to hear a release date that's relatively soon!

well, that is your opinion
thanks for expressing it *claps*
anyways, being an avid austen fan i am also looking forward to this adaptation
although i am a little against carmen rasmusen being in it, i think it will be fun and quirky much like clueless a few years back, i love emma *though bring on jeremy northam* "PWHROAR!!!"
anyways, hope there is some news on some canadian showings, even if it means i have to purchase it online, a great way to see some new versions of austen and also support students trying to make their way in the business
BRAVE for the attempt, but we'll all have to wait for the results

and gemini...since when are lesbians stereotyped as playing pool, looks like someone needs to think outside the "box" *wink*

reply

So because I've played pool I'm a lesbian? Wow. You must be a genius. I didn't know that playing a simple game could make someone turn their entire sexual orientation--that's quite an accomplishment. Perhaps if I can just sucker Rupert Everett into a game my dreams will come true.

How many times do I have to point this out. Its apparent to anyone who has read anything about this movie online that this is not a "Hollywood" movie. It wasn't made by a studio or even has ties to California. Its an independant. Made by film students. Which means NOT Hollywood. That also means I'm giving it a chance before letting negative hype drown an innocent project.

I'm really getting tired of defending a movie I haven't even seen to people who haven't seen it either. Grow up!
