Aspect ratio?

Is this film shot in 1:1.33 (academy) or is the DVD version cropped (Pan Scan)??

Hi there
the film was shot 1:1.85
As far as I'm aware it shouldn't appear as TV ratio anywhere and the DVD version shouldn't have been cropped other than perhaps a TV only showing 14:9 instead of 16:9... hope this helps.

The info for all the DVDs that I could find on the net all said it was 1:1.33 - therefore my question - but incidentally just the other day I found a Scandinavian release in full format, so I was able to watch it again, after seeing it on television some time ago :-)
All in all: an interesting neo-Noir, and the elements of E. Hopper and religion make it stand out.

Hi
Does the scandinavian release have English sound on it as an option?
The UK copies have a poor dub with some of the film out of sync.

Yes, the original English sound is standard. Only thing added is the 4 Scandinavian subtitle options - Danish, Norwegian, Swedish, Finnish, that's the usual procedure in Scandinavia. I wish they'd add an English subtitles track too but it seldom happens.

Why should the British have a dub??? Amazing...

In Scandinavia there's no tradition of dubbing films at all - unlike Germany, Italy, etc, - unless it's a child movie. There has never been any tradition of voice-over in television either, so people are quite used to subtitles. In fact there'd be an outcry if dubbed films were shown in theaters or aired on TV - we like John Wayne to sound like John Wayne :-)

Hi
by the dub I meant the general lay off of all the sound. It's the original 35mm sound alright, but for half the film it's slipped by a frame or so and nobody seems to have corrected it.

Sorry for this misunderstanding on my part :-) I'll have to watch it again (which is nice anyhow) and pay more attention...
