Who were all those people that showed up at their house at the end of the movie before they take off in the rocket?

The "saints" were looking out for Damian. We heard Saint Peter say as much as he was leaving Damian, and then Saint Joseph covered for Damian after he left the school play. I guess it was supposed to be a type of miracle when those dozens (hundreds?) of people showed up at the front door.

Remember that St. Peter said not to send in all the charity donations because they will inundate him after that. I think that is part of it.

Kind of like, "If you give it, they will come!" Found that confusing too, but thought the film was amazing.

Deleted scenes give a clue. Anthony's friends blabbed, word got out they had a bunch of money, and everyone came knocking.

qpr00001 was the only one right; he was putting money in envelopes and saint peter came and said "don't send money to mindless organization; you'll be beseiged" that's where the ppl came from

I don't know if it has been posted before, but it totally reminded me of the end of "Pay it Forward". Except that Damien didn't have to die for for his good deeds and I guess the lines formed for "Millions" were made by "Gimmees" and the lines in "PIF" were made by those impacted by the boy's charitable acts.
