is this any good

hiya im laura and im wonderin should i be bothered 2 go see this film.
i like chick flicks and scary films?

reply

Well, it's not scary but I wouldn't necessarily call it a chick flick but it does lean in that direction. It is sweet and heartwarming, and I loved it. It's about a child's innocent ideals clashing with the realities of adult greed.

This film is getting slaughtered by the press over in the UK!

reply

what do you mean getting slaughtered? I've read about fifteen rave reviews of this film - Daily Telegraph, Mail on Sunday, Empire etc. etc. Take a look on Rottentomatoes.com
I've read one bad one and it was by some nutter who thought it was an attack on the British pound

reply

The film is getting slaughtered by a few reviewers, the majority think it is pretty good. Mark Kermode (a highly respected reviewer) loved it. On Radio 4, Front Row and The Film Programme both gave it good reviews. The Guardian has two reviews on its web site: one is good, one isn't.

Go and see it for yourself and make your own mind up.

I saw it a few days ago n i liked it but my boyfriend hated it, it depends on what you like, i love all danny boyle films and this one was really good but very different to his others. Its got a good story to it though.

This film isn't getting slaughtered by the press here in the UK! What are you on about? Its certainly a sleeper-hit I later discovered becuase the distribution theatre-wise hit snags. All reviews I've read are very positive and it picked up a best screenplay award.

This film is simply amazing. It's in my all-time top 5 favorite films. You MUST go see it; however, it is neither a chick flick, nor a scary film. But, it is enlightening and refreshing.

Come on. You gotta admit that Mark Kermode is the biggest Danny Boyle a**-licker around. Slaughtered probably isn't the best word to use but the reviews does seem to be mixed, just like for '28 Days Laters'.

It seems to me that americans luv his films more than the brits. However, i'm still gonna watch it as it was given 4/5 in Empire - the only critics i trust!

Well i loved the film. I went to see it last week and just found it to be a nice easygoing feel good film. i've wanted to see the film since christmas when i first saw th trailers. the film is jut a simple story told in a heart warming way

reply

Empire loved it and yet Total Film didn't so much, which is interesting. Anyway, I saw it and really liked it. You can read all the reviews in the world, but I think the only way to tell is to go and see it yourself!

ive read loads of reviews on this film (british and american) and not one of them has dissed it, they all say its really good, the metro for example gave it a whole page review saying its great and then kept on advertising it.

reply

Just look it up on RogerEbert.com, he gave it 4 out of 4. I LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOVE this movie! it changed me. Probably the only movie i've ever seen with religious undertones that DIDN'T make religion sound incredibly sinister.

reply

No.

1/10

- don't worry that's just my signature.
