Spoilers ahead!!

How did emily die in the original beach trip? I don't remember seeing any scene where she gets murdered.
Also i wanted to know what was the meaning of all those sticks coming out of the sand.

Hello, omule ;), i am from Romaina too, but i will answer you in english because i want to tell this to everybody.
She did not die at all, never, didn't U remember what they said at the begining, 3 dead, 1 missing.The Guy aka Satan, killed her friends and made her his..sex slave:).Remember she said she was allready there.The real Emily coul see them as ghosts an talk to them.There are also many occult meanings in this movie if U want to discuss with me, my email is [email protected].

but u say she came back and talked to them as a gohst???? Wat?? were were they?? y were they still there if they were dead and y was she a gohst??? please help me im so lost its so complicated, if any1 could explain to me this movie without being as shady on details as that satan guy in the movie lol thanks

i thought she was dead - don't forget Zippo was humping her apparently lifeless body in the bushes. Just cause she went missing doesn't mean she wasn't dead - don't forget there was a human hand and two eyes in the bottle amongst his stuff (don't know who of the 4 they belonged to)

I think they were stuck in a spiritual twilight and stuck on a loop reliving it over and over again. Also Emily couldn't remember anything at the start either so I don't think she was alive at all in the whole movie.....IMHO

I saw an advanced screening and the director answered questions afterwards. Someone asked about the sticks coming out of the ground, and he said there was no real importance to them, other than that it made it more obvious they were in a different place. It was mainly to add to the aesthetic of the film.

I thought those sticks were surfboards filmed in one perspektive. I hoped that it would be solved...there would've been a cool way to it. But maybe they are just sticks.

Since Zippo called a 'graveyard' and 'magic site' amongst other things, I thought the sticks were meant to be Aboriginal spears

Sticks are representation of Hell and a contrasting vertical to all the horizontal landscape shots of the rest of the film.
This information from the directors commentary on the DVD.

I thought the sticks were creepy looking...and yes they did feel sorta hellish...

Although Emily is reported to be missing I believe she was killed but not before being raped repeatedly.
The main evidence which supports this is the eyes and hand which are at Zippo's lair. Others have suggested that Emily and Zippo were having an affair which is definitely plausible, I think that maybe she just got in a little too deep and didn't realize that he was a sexually deranged monster. She is definitely crying as he rapes her on the beach.

Did anyone else think that maybe Zippo enjoyed replacing the mannequin's mysteriously missing eyes with Emily's (from the jar) and having sex with it? I don't know.. just a thought
