Keith Moon or John Bonham?

Personally I think Keith is a better drummer. What do you guys think?

This question is unanswerable!

"i am he as you are he as you are me and we are altogether."

I personally prefer John Bonhams hard hitting style better. Keith Moon is awesome aswell, his trick with the water on his drums is pretty cool.

I don't know which one is better but I prefer John to Keith (I still love Keith, though).

Both.

How can anyone possibly choose between them?

Ringo.

Just kidding but listen to the albums- Ringo was way better than he's generally given credit for. Nevertheless Bonham and Moonie are the best and if I had to pick one I'd go Bonham on record since he does more mind blowing stuff the fill in Misty Mountain Hop near the end is one of my favorite moments in music.
Moon is better live - just watching him play the drums is entertainment enough.

Keith was flat out better!

Keith Moon was an incredibly gifted drummer, as was Bonzo.
Moon could play ANYTHING, but Bonzo had difficulty playing the reggae beat of D'yer Maker. I think Moon would have nailed that in a single take.
Both legends, both sorely missed

Bonzo beats Moon easy, who remains a close third behind Peart. Bonzo had a feel and signature and he had a method with what he did, while Moon was just anarchy on the drums. Nobody else could express what Bonzo did on 'Whole Lotta Love'.

That and he's the one who got me onto the drum kit.

And as an above poster mentioned, Ringo deserves more credit. He's a great drummer who seams into the music of the Beatles, providing harmony.

Keith's unorthodox style, along with his very quirky personality is very fun to watch, but he's no Bonzo. No drummer was more powerful than Bonzo, nor could they lay down a groove like he could. His drums sounded HUGE, even if he was on a small kit.

Jimmy Page said it best when he said -

One of the marvelous things about John Bonham which made things very easy [for a producer] was the fact that he really knew how to tune his drums, and I tell you what, that was pretty rare in drummers in those days. He really knew how to make the instrument sing, and because of that, he could just get so much volume out of it by just playing with his wrists. It was just an astonishing technique that was sort of pretty holistic if you know what I mean.

Roger Daltrey has actually stated that they had to write their music around Keith's limited drumming ability.
