too grotesque for my taste

Too many discusting scenes, no need for that. They are nothing but a cheap low blow of causing emotions in viewers, but the bad way. Nothing smart or intelectual about showing blood, gore, over and over again... ewwww.... And the sudden sounds to give viewers a scare are also a cheap way to cause emotions. I don't like this kind of cinema. Ok the guy suffered inside the drawer, we get it.......... No need for so many scenes showing his suffering. We don't need to suffer as viewers. I want to have a good time watching a movie, not suffer with the main character.

reply

Well....transformers/moon saga/iron man is out there.....

reply

I like movies that make me think and try to engage the viewer through deep thoughts, not movies like The Jacket that use cheap low-blows like discusting images and abrupt sounds to shock the viewer.

But, if you like discusting stuff, go to the bathroom, take a cr@p and take pics of it, then lick it. Thank god I'm not like you, tasteless. I have good taste. I have a brain, unlike you who are brainless and childish.

Since we are talking about psychological thrillers, take Scorcese's Shutter Island for example. Much deeper, more adult and more intelectual than The Jacket. I loved it. Now that's a great movie, without any gore like The Jacket. Shutter Island shocks the viewer only by making him think, not with childish abrupt sounds. So go back to your porn movies, or movies that show gore/blood, since you're such a basic person, without a brain.

reply

Just wow. I actually respected your POV, until you started throwing *beep*

Dude, just because you're not fond of gory movies and somebody else is, it does not necessarily make you better. Get your mind straight.

Judging by the way you're thinking, you're probably some kind of pseudo-intellectual who's vicariously looking at others and thinks "I'm much better than those guys because I like this and that". Seriosuly, now.

I rarely blast out on people like that, but I feel like you're just some offensive *beep* with tremendous misconceptions. I actually enjoy gorey movies, but I enjoy even more Tarkovsky-like cinema. What does that make me? Am I a basic person too?

You like this film because you're sick. I like a variety of genres but I don't like gorefests like this movie. Gore is disgusting, for sick disgusting people like you who get a kick out of watching disgusting gore and blood. People like you are very close to become a psychopath if you are not one already. Keep watching disgusting gorefests and you'll become a monster too in no time. You're the idiot, and very basic.

Well well well, so after we insult each other, we are back to a civilized conversation?

The movie without gore would be much better, I prefer psychological, subtle, clever, intelectual terror if you know what I mean.

As for the movie, I didn't hate it... I watched the whole movie and it was ok, but not great. The story isn't that good. A vague story with puzzles that shows us all his suffering, his traumas, inside the drawer and outside. What is there to like about a character, not that likeable, who suffers though out the entire movie and loses its marbles all the time? It's very depressing if you ask me. But, whatever floats your boat!

reply

Don't get me wrong, I don't mean to offend you by any means, but if you think THIS mobie was a blatant display of gore, then... wow.

The whole blood thing was actually used exactly in the right places. There's nothing exagerated about it and, after all, that is totally not the point in this movie.

As a matter of fact, I haven't even thought about this whole thing until I've read your post. Everything seemed natural, as it actually is. Sorry, but you're probably oversensitive about such things.

reply

how many times do i have to tell you, you are only allowed to see paris hilton movies and kardashians on tv, you never listen!

reply

Was that supposed to be funny? What does Kardashian have to do with this movie? I think it's too grotesque, unpolished, bad taste movie, with too much gore.

reply

but avoid hilton's horror movies, they will scare you

reply

I think you are confusing bad taste with something else. What Hilton's horror movies?

reply

house of wax, it doesn't suit your delicate taste. strange, your avatar looks tough!

reply

I never watched that movie. I don't watch garbage. You must be the kind of sick people who like sick movies such as Hostel and Saw. It's not a question of scaring me but of very bad taste, sick. Saw = Hostel = House of Wax = this movie = too much bad taste gore.

reply

no i'm just the kind of men who are not gays

reply

Yeah right you just have bad taste and you're a sick psycho.

reply

Tell you what you sick kid... If you're into gore and that kind of gross things, go throw up and then lick your own vomit. Knock yourself out.

reply

ok but i'm sure you're 13 yrs old

reply

Do people call Saw a 'gorefest' without actually seeing it? There's hardly any violence in it and it's a very clever movie!

reply

I know, right? The first Saw is not very gory at all. I remember watching it in the theatre, and we all (the entire audience) began screaming when he began cutting his foot, but I can't even remember if they showed it! Haha!

The movies became increasingly gorier though . . . . too much so for my taste, but the first Saw was great.

reply

I don't watch garbage.

Oh yes you do!! You gave Anchorman 2 an 8!!

I don't love her.. She kicked me in the face!!

reply

Of course! It's one of the best comedies out there. Or you don't have a brain?

reply

Sure do. That's why I recognize those idiotic Anchorman movies for the garbage that they are.

I don't love her.. She kicked me in the face!!

reply

You don't have a brain and a sense of humour. Anchorman is the best comedy in a long long time. It made me laugh hard all the time.

reply

Sorry but no. It is embarrassingly stupid and not funny in the least.

I don't love her.. She kicked me in the face!!

reply

Not funny? How is it not funny when it made me laugh hard the whole time???????

reply

You answered your own question.

I don't love her.. She kicked me in the face!!

reply

No I did not.

If the movie wasn't funny it wouldn't made me laugh.

Since it made me laugh hard all the time then it's funny as heck.

Very simple. What part don't you get?

reply

The stupid part which started at the beginning and ended after the credits rolled.

I don't love her.. She kicked me in the face!!

reply

So if the movie made me laugh hard that proves it IS FUNNY.

If you don't get it, that means you don't have a brain and a sense of humour.

And that's that.

reply

I can see that this is very difficult for you so I'll just finish with this: Something that made you laugh is funny TO YOU. NOTHING is universally funny. Get it?

I don't love her.. She kicked me in the face!!

reply

Yes I know all that. What is funny for me might not be funny for you. But since people tell me I'm very intelligent and I have a brain, which one of us (you and me) doesn't have a brain then??? Easy answer.

reply

are you sure you have a brain? who are these people who told you that you are smart? how do you know if they are smart? i do think you are weird

It's a troll guys, don't feed him. This movie is anything but gore... wtf

reply

What are you if you are not a gore loving, blood thirsty American?

reply

This is one of the weirdest interactions I've seen on IMDb yet.

I can't tell if any single person is serious or not. Either way, this movie is not over-the-top violent or unnecessarily violent in any way. Though like on most posts like this I have to say, that's just my opinion. Respect to everyone.

[truth]I am bisexual. If you dont like that: you can blow me. If you do: same deal.[/truth]

reply

Where was the gore in this movie..? I didn't even notice it...

reply

Lol of course, it requires a brain.

reply

No, a couple of eyes would be enough and I have eyes (and use them)

reply

Sorry pal, just having eyes and no brain, will not work to really understand stuff.

reply

It's not about "understanding" when seeing blood and gore, looking is enough.

Time to watch The Descent now, a movie that actually contains gore.

reply

It's about understanding when you look at the gore in this movie, you need a brain and good taste to find it gross and not needed at all. I like to watch movies to have a good time, that's the whole point of movies, not a movie like this that is so dark, that depresses me.
