" Watched Pitch Black & Riddick 600 Times", 11 April 2005

Author: Gillian Henderson ([email protected]) from Australia

I have never seen the "Into Pitch Black", but the other two movies I watch every day, from the time I get up in the morning to the time I go to bed at night. I found with Pitch Black, that it was a fast kinda of pace to build up the story, where as Riddick is a very slow and fast moving kinda movie that gets to the point on how one man can be so popular with so many different people. One, you have the Private Bounty Hunter "Toumes", who just see a big pay check at the end of his delivery, then you have, "Mercs" who have been wanting his ass in prison for so long, and then you have the, "Nekros" who just can't believe that this one man can fight for something that he believes in and can rule over every "Nekro". Well done Mr Diesel, for showing the world that the strength that you have for "Pitch Black and Riddick", after watching just about every movie that you have been in including the "Pacifier", you show that you will keep going. The one thing I love about you Mr Diesel, is that you don't act with a false pretense, you act the part so well that you put other actors to shame. Your acting is wonderful. If you are like this in the movies, what are you like outside of the movies. I can't wait until you bring more movies out. Thank you Vin Diesel.

Couldn't agree more. I mean COME ON now. Vin Diesel is too obsessed with himself to concentrate on decent acting. The only really remarkable thing about him is that he's got a really deep, resonant voice. But anybody with an ounce of discernment about good acting vs. okay acting can see that Vin Diesel is nothing special.

The individual who submitted the original posting is either the most sarcastic person I've ever encountered, or in serious need of a therapist. And if I were the therapist, I'd definitely recommend taking down the Vin Diesel posters as a first step.

Well I can agree with you on most things ( about the theropy) but like you can act any better then Vin...

Why is it that when someone criticizes an actor, there is always a guy (or a girl) that confuses subjective criticism, with personal comparison? I mean, I know guys who can accurately assess the talent of pretty much any pro football player alive, but they couldn't carry the football to the bathroom. When they tell me that a certain player has this weakness or that strength, I don't assume they are comparing the player's attribute to their *own*! I know they are comparing the athletes to his *peers*.

Now here we go with a guy who is criticizing Vin Weasal's acting talent, and along comes *yet another dude* who assumes this person is comparing *their* acting talent to Vin's. Hey, Shadow 114466OhIateOne, this guy biconroy didn't say a damn thing about his *own* acting ability, he was speaking of VIN'S! He was comparing Vin to OTHER ACTORS.

Now maybe since you are neither human nor animal that explains why you can't accurately understand the very understandable comments of biconroy, but I hope this little diatribe helps you get it right in the future. We posters here on IMDB might not be able to act any better than some dork in a late-night used car commercial, but we can DISTINGUISH good from bad, Ok?! We here may not be able to taste like a crispy, Braeburn apple, but we damn sure can TASTE if it's a good apple or not. Okey, Dokey?

So endeth the lesson...

"I have never seen the "Into Pitch Black"..."
So he hasn't seen this movie, yet he gives it 10/10... that's kinda lame (plus, Vin is indeed not such a great actor).

reply

Possible that this person was paid to do so.

Your extreme diatribe against this poor fellow and the fact that you brought up grammar compels me to do this.

spelling errors:
-"grammer" --> grammar
-"pedephiles" --> pedophiles

grammatical errors:
-"First, he gives a review for a movie that he's never seen then he ..." comma needed after "seen".
-"How does IMDB let just a monkey to come in and take up space." --> I think you're trying to say, "How does IMDB let such a monkey come in and just take up space." Edit, please.
-"The guy in himself is ..." --> While perhaps not particularly ungrammatical, the "in himself" is unnecessary and rather odd. The more common usage would be, "The guy himself".
-"20 pedephiles" --> in this situation it would be more correct to write out "twenty". Numbers under 100 should be written out when used as modifiers.

Beyond all this, your ire seems to be completely uncalled for.

I know I should not - and I know this is an old post, but DAMN I love your post "theferociousbeast". While I generally find teh Grammar Nazis distasteful, I found your post to be posting justice- like karma in a soap-filled tube sock.
Very appropriate. Very called for.
