Quebec is a fabulous place, and this film is a lovely movie. I grew up in Maine, I learned French in school, and I visit Quebec as often as I can. Pour ce qui est des accents: they're just accents. Everyone has them. And although I speak "French French," I love the accent in Quebec. It's certainly no more difficult to understand than l'accent du midi or other regional accents in Europe, in the UK, or the US for that matter. Raymond Bouchard and several others were just wonderful.

Well it's on in Brussels and indeed it is a very funny film! It avoids all the usual ropes used by Hollywood films (to try) to make you laugh. Of course, the French Canadian accent is somewhat surprising but it only takes about 5 minutes to get used to. Don't miss it!

Our French movies are the greatest and funniest!! Who cares!

I hope it does come to france, though it should have alreday...i dont know if someone has mentioned that (sorry some words i dont understand so i only get the jist of the posts written in french). But about the quebecoise accent, you know it is hard to understand at first.
For me at school, all my tecahers speak france-french but once you get used to it, its one of the most amazing accents in the world! :) anyway this is an amazing movie!! "beef-bugger off" hahaha and "they both won?"(cricket)...my friend and i saw it with subtitles but still, i loved it to pieces....i guess i do like it better than barbarian invasions because it is lighter like someone said. But then again, i haven't seen the first one...the fall of...? meh. anyway thats it thats all have a great day!

I'm English, and had no problem with the quebecois accent when watching the Barbarian Invasions at a french cinema when it was released...

La Grande Seduction is currently playing at the independent cinema in Nottingham, where I live - so I guess it's taken aw while to reach us. This month, it's one of two quebecois films (the other being C.R.A.Z.Y) playing, and in total there are 6 french-language films showing (L'enfant being, of course, Belgian). So 1/3 of la francophonie is represented by Quebec, something I'm all for. looking forward for this trend to continue... I'm going to see La Grande Seduction tomorrow evening, and hopefully will see C.R.A.Z.Y this month as well!
