My family and I went to see this movie on a whim one of the last few times we visited Quebec all together. (We moved to Ontario 13 years ago, and as us kids get older, it's harder and harder to spend more time together as a family...) and I have to say that I did not really want to go see it at first, mainly because I hadn't heard anything about it. I have always been a Raymond Bouchard fan, and Benoit Briere kills me in the french-canadian Bell Canada ads, so I was not surprised I loved it so much. It's not profane, it's not racy, it's just an awesome movie featuring some of the best talent La Belle Province" has to offer.
A funny side story.. If I am to believe my mother (which I usually do) the island where it was filmed is actually predominantly English-speaking.. which is ironic considering they've turned it into a typical French village!
On the tangent of "Le Fabuleux Destin D'Amélie Poulain" and "Un long dimanche de fiançailles" it would be a shame not to watch both those movies based on the fact that there is an allusion to sex, and maybe one or two sex scenes. It's tame my American standards, and the French narrator's delivery makes it all worthwhile. I encourage you to watch it. Though I have not watched the English version, and I think it might lose some of its appeal if the language wasn't translated as lyrically. As for "Fiançailles", it was beautifully shot, and Audrey Tautou is heart-wrenching in it. Two great movies, but "Séduction" takes the cake for me, it's just to good to miss!
Sorry I'm so long-winded.. I learned English late in life, so I have to catch up!
