True Story?

Not sure as JP Davis wrote the story, many major film companies were interested in the script, but JP wanted to play the role of Tommy, in the end it was produced for just $180,000 which is amazing.

Just wish the DVD had been full screen and also I would love to have had some extras

Story may not be completely true.But JP Davis has told that he was inspired to write this script when he saw old Boxing trainer train rather unknown and very underdog Boxer with great passion with out listening anyone else advice.
I don't know how much research he has done on those two to write the whole script
