Quick historical error?

My Indian history isn't the greatest, but I did notice that the British were referred to several times as the 'East India Company'. I'm not exactly sure when the film is set, but by costume I'd say late C19th/ early C20th, in which case the Company should no longer exist as I was under the impression it was dissolved after the Mutiny. Can anyone confirm this?
