American wondering about the movie.

This movie is due for release here in the U.S in about June. I read an article about it in an independent film magazine and am very intrigued by it. If I have never seen the movie before, is it good enough to warrant me ordering the DVD all the way from Italy?

reply

Not really, the main character is so annoyingly naive.. aaargh! And it's full of cliches, just rent it and you'll see.

reply

Unfortunately, I can't even rent it cuz its not even in theaters here yet, I guess I'll just wait and see it in theaters. Thanks!

Are they going to release this film in theatres in the US? I saw it in a Italian class here, but it was on a Region 2 DVD that the teachers had imported. They played it on a computer.

I enjoyed it quite a bit, especailly from an anthropological standpoint.

Wasn't aware a theatrical release was planned. Can anyone confirm that? Who's doing the distro? Any info on the web?

Grazie!

I picked up a copy of FLM Magazine at my local Landmark Theaters Cinema (Arthouse Chain) and it had a little blurb on it, so supposedly it's gonna be released sometime this summer.

There's a very good chance you'll enjoy this film. Even more so if you know anything at all about Italian politics and social life. But even if you don't, the acting is excellent, the pacing tight, the script well-developed, witty, very intelligent, and there are moments where the humour is almost painful and the pain just unbearable.

Then again, everything depends on your taste in film. But this is a very good "art" film with biting social and political criticism. I just loved it.

(Keep in mind that ordering from Italy means a Region 2 DVD and PAL format.)

Enjoy!

I saw the movie at an film festival in chicago in march. Personally, I would say that you should order it.

If you are ordering it from Italy, how are you playing it? Do you have a region free DVD?

reply

My dvd player already has a built in PAL to NTSC converter(Video signals in TV) and I used a hack code with my remote to make the player all regional.

reply

the movie is EXCELLENT. much better than i'd expected. do not miss it.

reply

I have a local theater that only plays foreign films, indi films, and older classics and they released this movie there a week ago. I don't think there's going to be a huge release thing all over the US, but look out for film festivals, they might have it there.

I just saw the movie at the Milwaukee International Film Fest and loved it, I;m definitely thinking of ordering the dvd from Italy

reply

I heard that DVDs play on newer MACs regardless of country of origin.
