WAs it just me or ...

at some point, the professor and the blonde was talking and the prof was like "yeah, i'll just offer him more money when we get near the blood orchids" and she was like "ok"

and then in the next scene she is talking to the captain and he says "yeah he offered me money to continue taking you guys down river" and she's completely appalled

did she not understand anything the prof said in the scene before?

i wasn't paying that much attention so i might have misheard in the first scene
