The most bizarre cartoon ever

I first heard about Pingu on Youtube. He's not a cute looking peguin at all. But he is pretty funny. I'm almost 30 and found these amusing. However, I'm not sure if I'd let my kid watch it and here's a few reasons why:

1. One episode, Pingu flips the bird(flipper) to another penguin. I couldn't believe that.

2. The episode where Pingu misses the toilet was definitely you wouldn't find on Smurfs or Sesame Street. I can see why the US banned that episode from air.

3. The episode where Pingu's sister is born. The little bird takes a crap(and you actually see that). Yeah I know, everybody poops and I found it slightly amusing. But why would you show that to an audience that's supposedly little kids?

All in all, I kinda dig the cartoon just for its' originality. But to pawn it off as a show for little kids is up for debate.

Lol! Last weekend I was babysitting my 2 & 1/2 year old twin nephews and without Pingu, I wouldn't have survived. Luckily I had bought them a Pingu boxset for their birthdays and they absolutely love it. They will literally jump up and down in excitement at totally random moments and it's the only thing they'll sit down on the couch with me and watch.

I didn't see the flipper incident episode but while watching the Pingu Forever DVD(It has to be Pingu Forever, not Pingu & the Snowboarder or Pingu & the Toyshop) I saw the episode with Pingu missing the toilet and his little sister being born. I was totally shocked when I noticed it, a WTF moment to be sure. It's made by the Swiss, so a different culture and all... I'm in the UK. I wasn't offended really though, kids laugh at dumb stuff.

And the toilet incident was resolved when they got some iceblocks and built a little staircase around the toilet so Pingu could use it, a good message

How prudish can you get? Do you teach children that other people never wee or poo in America? Just what harm is seeing them do it going to do to little kids?

Sigh...Americans...

As an American...that's what I was going to say, too. Many don't know that it's not an American production and that people's attitudes are looser and more natural abroad. That's exactly why I love Pingu and do show it to kids.

If you look at how excretion is portrayed in pingu, they don't try to be funny about it or try to gross you out, nor do they portray it as a pretty thing.

The characters react to it the same way mentally-sane people would, and it doesn't look like real human SH'T, it looks like bird-SH'T.

No the most bizarre cartoon ever was one called Ludwig, made in 1977.

I found your comment very surprising. I didn't see problem at all with the episodes you pointed out, but in other hand, I watched Smurfs when I was a child and I used to love it, but when I showed to my daughter two episodes I changed my mind because is too violent.
I find curious that toilet issues are more concerning to Americans than violence.
Gargamel spends the whole time saying he will be cruel to the Smurfs.
I'm no prude about violence, my daughter loves Toy Story, but I think Gargamel's obsession just too much.
