Did anyone else spot this?!

When Runche first goes to see Jessica at the asylum, Jessica is being escorted by a warden in a white outfit. As Jessica and Runche walk towards the camera, you can see in the background that the warden has turned into a mannequin!!!

Are my eyes playing tricks on me?

I live on a farm in the area in which the book was set. Eastern brown snakes don't live in trees which made a farce of the ending for me.

Also, the real-life Jessica lived to a ripe old age and is buried in my local cemetary.
