shareWell, this is an old thread, but just a clarification: Teri's character, Alex did not win the Oscar. We, the viewers, never learned who won. When the announcement of the winner was made, there was a voice-over with Alex's thoughts -- and she was too busy nervously thinking to hear who won.
shareWell, one of the actresses also nominated was Charlize Theron for "Monster," and she really did win the best actress award for that movie, so I'm guessing it was her.
