Ending???????

Do Patrick and Alex end up together? If not what happened?

i just finished watching the last episode and i am a bit confused too.I think it was supposed to be a cliffhanger for a new series which was never made.Perhaps the show was made by ABC, the tend not to care about audiences who have grown to like their shows if there isnt quite enough of them and rip the shows off the air without tying up loose ends.Unfortunately a lot of their programmes end up this way.

i just watched the last episode then too...i think it must have been a cliffhanger...but even so, what a sad ending for a great show :S

Obviously it's been airing outside of the USA... Yes, the ending of the final episode, "I'm Not With Her," was the cliffhanger setup for a second season (Patrick and Alex break up and never reconcile). The show was getting strong ratings and winning its timeslot (its only real competition was NBC's "Happy Family," which also only got one full season). It seemed to be a shoo-in for another season, but for some unknown reason, ABC didn't renew it.

i think they must not have known that the show was being cancelled until after they had made the last episode. it's a cliffhanger but at the same time they had the whole flashback sequence at the end which sort of summed up the series, although if they were going to do that then it would have been better to have scenes other than just them kissing but still a flashback sequence like that is one way of finishing a series but they had the cliffhanger as well (although if there was another season they would obviously have to get back together for the show to continue). so i think the cliffhanger left it open for another season but the sequence was good to have incase there was no other seasons. it is kind of annoying though, getting into a sitcom where there are actually likeable characters that you want to get to know more and are funny and have a good on screen presence. i mean take the sitcom stacked for example, it's a funny show but none of the cast besides pamela andseron really make you look at the screen. it's the difference between a great sitcom and just a good one. the seinfelds, and raymonds etc have it, and at least for me this show had it, unfortunate. would be good if it was brought back but its been a couple of years so not much chance of that i don't think.
