Robert Wagner As H + F's Father

As a fan of Robert Wagner, it's great to see him appearing in H & F as the girls' father, Jack! He brings a real panache to the role and is also (very importantly for a sitcom) a talented comic actor! It's just a pity that the makers of the show haven't produced higher quality scripts/storylines for him.

Some of the scripts for the eps he appears in are better than others - I enjoyed the season 2 Thanksgiving ep, for example. But the eps featuring Mandi were just dire! I found her to be an incredibly annoying character, especially in the eps where she was pregnant! I also failed to find any humour in a storyline which centered around a woman deceiving a man into beliving he was the father of her unborn child!

I really wish they'd give Robert Wagner some better scripts/storylines - preferably ones that don't involve Mandi or similar Mandi-type characters!

Having said that, the most recent ep featuring H & F's father (shown on Friday) sounds a bit more interesting. I haven't seen it yet (I live in the UK and we're only on season 2), but a friend in the US watched it and told me about the plot etc. It would be fascinating to know more about Jack's relationship with Laura, especially as it resulted in a child (Jay).

Assuming that Laura is supposed to be alive and well, it would interesting to have her meet H & F at some point. Apart from anything else, that would be a way to introduce more info about the relationship between Jack and Laura. Also, it could signal the end of all the annoying 'H & F try to interfere with Jack's love life...' storylines by having Jack and Laura rekindle their relationship and possibly even marry.

Incidentally, if the makers of H & F want to really boost ratings (and apparently the ratings do rise considerably every time Robert Wagner appears on the show), a good idea would be to get Stefanie Powers (Wagner's co-star in the classic 1980s show 'Hart to Hart') to play Laura! The on-screen chemistry between those two is seriously hot and I'm sure ratings would get a much needed boost as a result!

I love Wagner in the role as well. This is one man who is definitely aging gracefully. A friend of mine went to a taping of a show in which Wagner appeared and said that he appears much younger looking in person than he does on TV and was extremely charming and gracious when she actually got to meet him.

I met him as well a couple of yrs ago but didnt get to talk to him, just have a picture taken with him is all. He does seem charming. He was surrounded for autographs. Stephanie was with him at this event and I got to talk to her for a while and she was just wonderful. I always loved them on Hart to Hart.
