Will there be a series 3???

i see no has posted for quite a while on the status of a future series? does anyone know if there could be? i really hope so superb show, finally got round to buying the dvd boxset and watched it all in few days, addicted to it but love to see more in the future.

I read somewhere they were making a Series 3 now(ish)...

reply

I'm not sure they are though because isn't Susan Cookson (Tanya) a regular in Casualty now?

reply

You may find this hard to believe but I'm actually the Nephew of John Henshaw (Ken) and son of the Props Master on the show Tony Henshaw (They are brothers). From what i've heard from my Father there is no series 3 in production at the moment, he is unclear as to the future of the programme although I may find out from him at a later date, i'll try to keep you posted.

thanks alot jaycrolla, thingers crossed for series 3 maybe sometime in the future.

The actor who plays Tommy has got a regular gig on Coronation Street. In a piece in about this in the Daily Mirror, they describe him as the 'ex-Early Doors actor'.

Doesn't sound good. :(

I did read that a third series had been commissioned and writing will commence early 2007. I do hope there is a third series as this is a fantastic show and very under-rated.

reply

I really hope there is a 3rd series!!! I LOVE LOVE this show!!

I've been listening to the commentary on the second series DVD and at times, during scenes with Tanya, Phil and Craig make jokes about her going/having gone to Casualty. Phil alludes to a third series a few times when discussing Tanya, saying that maybe she will not want to come back, (all in jest) so there may be something in the pipeline.

My sister saw Jean on the Skytrain in Sheffield. She sat opposite her and they had a nice chat... and she said they had started work on the new series.

reply

Yay! First positive bit of news in ages. Thanks for that.

I really hope there is a new series, I've just been rewatching the first series on DVD, such a cracking programme. At the very least I reckon they could do a double for Christmas. Perhaps one set on Christmas Day, the other New Year's Eve. I doubt there will be anything better on comedy wise on the BBC this year.

reply

That sounds like a plan Tomc2488.

Here's hoping the success of the Royle Family special makes the beeb push for an Early Doors special.

I'd love to see even one more, just as a farewell.

PHEC!

reply

has anybody got any update on series 3. Why will BBC not comment.

reply

that's great news! this is an excellent show! a real gem! I really hope it gets on the screens again soon!

reply

I really hope they make a third series, though I think the smoking ban may cause problems as nearly all the characters are smokers. They will have to have Ken creating a beer garden with some of the action spreading to the outside. This is also probably why there will be no more series of the 'Smoking Room'.

reply

shame but i think we have seen the last of early doors, unless they decide to copy the royle family and do a one hour special after a couple of years.hope so!!

reply

I do hope for a series 3,that would be amazing, but I dont think it would happen. That would be a shame as its one of the best written comedies of recent years.

Agreed, Early Doors was far superior to the Royle Family.

reply

There's room for both - but if I had to choose, I'd choose Early Doors. Cracking show, can't believe we only got 2 series.

reply

It's a real shame that there does appear to be any chance of a third series.

reply

Yep, Early Doors much more enjoyable, and with plenty more to offer I imagine. The smoking ban itself would create story lines. Getting the key actors together could be tricky, as many seem to be off doing other things.

When's that Pickles question coming Ken :)

Sept 2013 - no sign of a third series yet.... :(
