I never watched this show but read the plots and it says that John Henry Barnes has daughter named Maya right? Well how come she is on the show once and Barnes is a regular cast member

Okay there is a charecter named John Henry Barnes and he has a daughter names Maya and she was only on the show once and he has a regular part on the show and i ust wanted to know why Maya didnt come on the show more often because she was his daughter.

Most of the show takes place while Barnes is training the new deputy. The scenes his daughter are in are the ones that take place while Barnes is at home or not on patrol.
