whoa

I just finished this movie, and what I have notice is that the characters in this movie seems really realistic, I even know a kid at my old high school who is just like Pete

I felt like I was watching a small independent movie, but at the same time the movie also felt very much like real life too

have anyone felt this way after watching this film???

reply

Yes, this is a great film.

This is one of those really well-produced, true-to-life, PT Anderson-like movies where you feel you're watching a documentary being secretly filmed rather than a brilliant acting and writing showcase.

"...the movie also felt very much like real life too.... The character that especially stays in my mind is the dad. He's hardworking, appreciative and respectful of people, his sons know he loves them through his voice and the way he talks to them. If you close your eyes during scenes between Pete and his dad and just listen to the voices, it's really beautiful.

I love this film and have watched it several times. It seems that posters on this board either love it or just absolutely think it's of no importance, doesn't make sense because there's so much left out or left unresolved. I wonder if it has to do with personal ways of connecting with others. People who connect primarily through words and discussion would find this story to not have a plot that's resolved, I think. People who connect with others through tone of voice, eyes, mannerisms, as well as words, would find it beautiful.

Like in real life, some things aren't finished.
