Why? It was diamonds, what made their sensors go off the charts when they found the Russian plane? I know the implication was all along that it was uranium, but it wasn't. What did I miss here? I admit i fell asleep several times.

I think their sensors detected the shape of the plane under the ice.

"Worthington, we're being attacked by giant bats!"

Yeah, as the dude above said it was their radar that went off the charts, not a dosimeter.
