Am I the only one...

Who's seen this movie?

reply

No.

reply

Well, what did you think about it?

reply

I love this movie. Sometimes it feels a bit over ambitous, however, I always enjoy watching it!

reply

I'm about to see it...I shall review it afterwards ^_^

reply

This is not a good movie...

It is pretty...but bad...

I would not even go as far as to say nice looking. Unless you are referring to the country side.
All the weapons were furnished by BudK and all the costumes looked like they came from a Halloween store.
I am not sure what the budget was, but I know of ways of getting better qaulity weapons, armour and clothing at low cost.
Other than that... it was profoundly boring.
:D

Most, if not all, of the extras in this film were supposedly volunteers from local renaissance fairs. I think that they supplied their own costumes and weaponry for the film. That's what it said in the 'making of' feature.

reply

there wasn't a budget. And all of the extras brought their own armor (they were volunteers from a Ren's fair).

reply

I was indeed referring to the countryside, though I will say that certian scenes were very well shot...(the death of his wife/sister/lover (whoever that was) and the shots in the snow with the felled night)

reply

Some of the perspective shots were wonderful. Like when He dreams of seeing that wolf, and the camera is side ways. Then later on in the film, he falls down a sand dune and goes right back to that side ways shot. That was beautifuly done!

reply

Yes..the sideways shot was very nice...but it was about three times longer than it needed to be.

The director really needed to learn about pacing of a film...the pacing of this was HORRIBLE...any movie that you can watch on fast forward for 5 minutes and not miss a single plot or character development point needs some work.

reply

True, it did seem like they could have made alot more cuts and helped the flow alot more. i think part of the reason is they wanted a full length movie with a small budget, and so theyu had lots of long shots to fill the time. i dont know, im not trying to defend bad directing, this is just a theory i guess.

Just watched it; liked it a lot. The level of acting ability was uneven, but that's often true with low-budget indie flicks where people may wear several production hats. (For instance, the actor playing Glim was also the composer; better at music than acting.)

But those of you complaining about the plot not moving quickly are missing the point. It's not a plot-driven action picture; it's a psychological, picaresque fable.
