For me, the perfect ending would've been Liam and the kid are safe in the apartment, and then the camera zooms back to show some other psycho watching them from a window across the street. A whole new nightmare is about to begin...

I think the ending was quite good.
Personally, because I'm a miserable bastard, I would've liked that Neesons's character would've died, from the wounds he should've gotten after killing that last remaining guy. Then the young kid that was with him would've picked up his "mantle" and become an anti-hero himself.
That would've been a good ending too. The way it ended was too predictable for me.
