How did Albert get free?

Albert was handcuffed to the pipe in the kitchen. At first, I thought he would cut his own hand off, but apparently not. He got the drawer open (the drawer that had loads of handcuffs in it?). Did he get a key from there? Why then was there loads of blood all over the kitchen by the time Matt shows up? Or was that from a violent scuffle with Kenny, which ended back in the basement?

I found that whole scene confusing.
