The door kicking scene....

Instead of sitting down and talking about "their feelings" for two hours, Kevin Costner managed to express his anger and frustration in a formidable way without being abusive or dangerous. Costner reading Joan Allen the riot act, was spot on.

Score one for Alpha males everywhere.

It was a great scene in a movie with many memorable scenes.

Basically, I agree.

But, realistically, that was kind of a "fantasy" scene, designed for a movie like this in which what is said or done by all can only be understood on many levels.

Kicking down those doors, even by a strong somewhat chubby "has-been" pro-baseball player, would not have been that physically easy or successful on his first try. That scene happens so fast - and hits the viewer so fast - that it blindsides Binder's audience with a purely emotional "kick" that director Binder wanted to deliver.

It's instantaneously symbolic of Denny's growing anger at and love for Terry.
