Great movie, lame reviews...

This is my first posting on IMDB but I feel I had to say something.

This film is a kids film, my kids loved this film. simple...admitedly I wasn't held by the seat of MY pants but then I am 30 years old and really wouldn't expect to be.

These bad reviewers are probably the tight arsed kind of parents that rubbish a movie so they don't have to take their kids to see it or resent spending time and money entertaining the little sprogs.

Give this film a break, its not 'A few good men' but then again my kids would not be able to sit there and watch that either, they would think it rubbish.

Adults really do not understand what goes on in a childs mind, no matter how 'hip and trendy' we like to think we are we! ask the kids what THEY think of this movie, Im sure the responses will be positive.

Honestly, what kind of film were they expecting?...its about a frigging tooth fairy!

My kids (5,7 and 9) have never once moaned about the photography, lighting or the order of the credits of any movie ...ever... they either like a movie or they don't purely on whether it was entertaining.

Nope, No spam here, My name is Jamie Fuller (jamiefuller.com or even google my name!). I was in no way shape or form linked to this film and a quick look at my website will show that I'm a real, albeit slightly strange, person.

Why can some people not understand that even though THEY don't like something that it can still be good? Especially when THEY are not the target audience?...Last time I looked, the sun was the center of the universe...not you, and whilst some of the comments are very valid about the film , they are a touch sensitive considering the actual target audience.

When I'm driving in my car, my daughter loooooves to listen to britney spears, I hate her with a passion (Britney not my daughter!), however, I allow my daughter her pleasure as it keeps her happy. Whilst I can see Britney is a talentless boob-job, that doesn't change the fact that she entertains my daughter and given the choice between renting 'Shawshank' and 'Crossroads' on a saturday afternoon, when the kids are driving me potty, its gonna be 'Crossroads' that wins everytime. When reviewing a Kiddie-flik these are things the reviewers need to consider.

reply

Then I hope You explain to your daughter that Britney - even if she's entertaining - is not a great role model, that boob jobs are not okay and that it's smart to think before you speak.

reply

I do, especially with her recent behavior,
However britney has one purpose in my household, to entertain. she offers no educational benefit whatsoever, thats what school and homework are for.

So I do agree with those comments and if you are linking them to this film then yes I also agree that its not gonna make your kids any smarter but then again its called entertainment not education.

In 5 years time my daughter probably wont remember britney, so any kind of lasting impression won't really be that lasting. But I hope she remembers that good ol' Dad always made her boring car-trips that little more bareable.

Ok, I DID work on the movie, I was the cameraman. So you can say I have an axe to grind here, however I would like to think I'm being fairy (ok fairly)objective when I support this picture.I can back up another comment on the message board site for TOOTH, that Ed Nammour, the director, is a most accomplished, talented and all round good bloke, and I very much enjoyed working with him. I think the movie has many faults and sadly I cant stand outside every cinema and apologise for them, offering a VERY SMALL budget as the excuse that resulted in those problems. However I have attended many screenings, largely with young kids, who HAVE appeared to enjoy the film greatly. Special effects are, these days, fantastically accomplished, clever and super credible, but at a great cost. Low to nothing budget movies have so much to compete with when attempting to satisfy sophisticated audiences. Happily young kids can still get a kick out of economically produced pictures.

why can no-one like a film without being accused of being involved in it. now i loved this film it may not be the matrix or deeply psycological but it's fun. my little brother and sister loved the film too they are 7 and 9. my parents hated it infact my dad walked out after 30 minutes but they're adults. this film wasn't made for adults but children and my little brother, peter doesn't care about special effects of stunning acting. anyho i liked it and thats about it.
you are of course entitled to hate a film i hate many the most recent being cinderella story but i just thought to post my opinion.

reply

? sorry i didn't quite understand your reply...erm whats 'my puppet'? anyhow i dunno if you think i'm a human being or not. incidentaly if i was to be absolutely honest the only reason i like the film is because it has stephen fry and richard e grant in. they are amonst two of my favourite 'british' (mr grant is technically african) actors.

oh and did you get that quote of Have I got news for You? because if you did i watched that episode as well. paul merton is also amongst one of my favourite people.

Because most of the user reviews and comments on this board have been shared with us by some sad case who is shilling for the film, or as we film geeks like to say, PLANT!!!!!

You look in a dustbin for something to eat
You find a dead rat and think it's a treat

My kids hate this movie. Not going to lie to you.

Ordinarily, one can, but sadly the IMDb message board for this particular film is inhabited by some poor, unfortunate soul with severe paranoid delusions. There might even be more than one such poor, unfortunate soul, as the number of user names suggests, but you know, the writing style is all the same... ;)

Oh no, wait. It would be paranoia if they thought everyone was against them. But in this case, several people are against them, and the delusion is that they're not - or, at least, that only one person is. So it seems like rather the opposite of paranoia, in a way. I wonder if there's a term for it...

Okay, you can tell I'm not a psychiatrist. But perhaps we should find one before this individual gets too far out of control, if it's not already too late... ;)

it may not be the matrix

And thank God for that! The Matrix was utter bilge. The special effects may have been impressive, but they're just superficial decorations. What really matters in a film are the characters, the plot, the script, and the messages it leaves you with. The Matrix was full of unsympathetic characters, plot holes, philosophical clichés, and a message of Ludditism, anarchy, and amorality.

Tooth, on the other hand, was just great fun. :) Yes, it had its flaws, but to me they just reminded me that the people making it were, after all, only human. And that's not such a bad thing. ;) I loved Harry Enfield's performance as a pantomime baddie, and the children - Yasmin Paige, Rory Copus, and Maisie Preston, I mean - were all brilliant. Richard E. Grant and Stephen Fry were... well, they were in it. I think that's about as much as can be said of their performances, but what the heck. Just their being in it was enough. :)

There were also imaginative ideas, interesting sets, a few genuinely funny lines, and some nice, positive sentiments about selflessless, and following one's dreams, and all that sort of thing. What more do you need from a film? :)

reply

Oh look, yet another plant!! Is this place here turning into a greenhouse or something?! Look dudes.. your crappy film flopped, there's no chance of rescuing it now.. so why not get busy making something that audiences will actually, ya know.. ENJOY instead of telling them what they should like? Even the most gulliable of people know you're a shill, so why bother trying to convince us otherwise? Please let it go, and move on. We have..

reply

Course you have. That's why you're still posting here, and still getting so tremendously worked up about the subject.

*rolls eyes*

Why don't you go and write about a film that you actually enjoyed, instead of telling other people what they shouldn't like? Why don't you move on? In fact, why don't you try learning about the word irony and the term self-awareness, and ask yourself why you are railing against people who you have deluded yourself into thinking are trying to force their opinions on others, when that is exactly what you are doing yourself? And while you're at it, try asking yourself why you are letting a minor children's film that you maybe watched a year and a half ago but didn't like dominate your thoughts so much, and make you so angry and bitter?

Go and make an appointment with your psychiatrist. Now. Seriously.

Seeing this film as a teenage guy like me who appreciate action and romance elements might me the worst experience in my whole entire being. but it wasn't. yeah, sincerely i think this movie is awful, well i can't help comparing it with those excellent kiddy films like santa clause, or spy kids, or harry potter films, but we should reconsider that sometimes, no matter how we think how right we are, we always think as an individual. what worse is, when one having no experience about art or entertainment knowledge is judging a film that completely failed to meet the criteria of a film that he considers as 'interesting'.

Even if we refer to great films like Star Wars, some might find it was silly too, even how high the recommendation we give to that film for others too see it. Just how stupid for future civilisations to still using swords as one of the weapons when guns are already invented? (no offense really, i dont know much about the film either).

My point is, there's absolutely no use of arguing about one film's greatness because it'll never end, and as a viewers, it is not our right to give a harsh comment to ones' work, because we might hurt somebody, no matter the doers or the fans, and it's not good.

reply

This film is not good... Rory Copus gets annoyed when i talk to him about it.
His acting was very talented though

reply

Well, I like it. Even if everyone involved in the film says it was rubbish, I'll still say it was good. Because it was. I don't care what anyone else says. :P

Woo-hoo!

I'm happy now. :)

I've won awards before. For film making too. And I'm rubbish! (no really, I have - www.guksack.com)

Freddy Got Fingered won an award too.

Just my two cents/pence

reply

I totally agree. My six year old enjoyed it and that is what counts to me!!!Adults shouldn't be able to come on here and tear up the movies because it didn't interest them.

reply

You can still say it's a bad film though. Whether your kids enjoyed it or not :)

reply

I'm 39 and found it a great deal of fun for really young kids (maybe between 5 - 9 years old). They even hid the name of the actor playing Santa Claus in the credits: it reads "Santa Claus Himself", how cool is that? Hehehehe
