MIND-NUMBINGLY RETARDED!!!

OMG! This movie has got to be one of the absolute worst movies EVER!! I don't find a movie I can't finish very often, but this one was definately one. I usually can force myself to finish, but it was at the ass-mark scene that I could no longer stomach it.

This movie had a brilliant beginning. Young JB singing rock and MEATLOAF as his religious father telling him Rock was of the devil. It had SUCH promise... Where did it go wrong? How did it go soooo far off track!

I expected it to be a bit stupid, after all it's Jack Black, and I like Jack Black. Nacho Libre was hilarious up to the last fifteen minutes, where it, too, took a nose-dive into the crapper.

Jack Black seems to be a great starter, but cannot close the deal.

This is mainly a movie for Tenacious D fans; while I'm not a huge fan of them, I knew their music before I saw it and I thought it was really funny and pretty good; it takes a degree of familiarity with the band to understand the type of humor and the jokes. It's not a masterpiece of film-making but I was entertained.

reply

I agree that it's definitely a movie for Tenacious D fans. I thought it was pretty good because i've been a fan of them for a while.

reply

I wouldnt say im a Tenacious D fan, & I thought it was pretty good. Or maybe im biased because i love Clockwork Orange & loved that parody of it. lol.

HEEEEERES JOHNNY!

reply

I wasn't really a fan until I saw this movie.

Now i am. <3

reply

what a surprise, another 'worst movie ever' thread....

i admit the film aint brilliant but its alot better than other films ive seen. i liked how they linked it to there brilliant song 'Tribute' forgetting the song they believed beat satan.

I'm sorry... you must have mistaken me for YOUR mother...

reply

hahaha aren't you a mom you dumbass? i hope your kids get aids. i'll be busy smokin up with Jables and Kage and blowing *beep* doors down.

reply

lol yeah, it's one of those movies you turn on and you know instantly some people will absolutely love it and lots will hate. I for one love it for its retarded sense of humour and how it manages to be really great *and* really crummy at the same time (like the "come on over here so I can cut you" part, or the closet scene for instance). It does feel a bit short and thrown together at the end tho.

reply

This movie was AMAZING...ly bad.

I'm a big Tenacious D fan, as well as a fan of "stupid" movies, but the stupid jokes that are supposed to be funny because they're stupid just ended up being stupid. Ya dig?

Oh jeez, I hate it when potheads are convinced that you have to watch it stoned. If its a great movie, it will stand well when you're sober. I'm assuming you would say the same thing about Pink Floyd The Wall? Grow up.

First, the movie is by far "great." Second, the movie is stoner-comedy. JB, huge advocate in the marijuana community. Third, you has no 1337. Fourth, all your internets are belong to me. Fifth, the only thing you have done good for the IMDB community is getting hit by that train.

reply

I watched the entire HBO series without smoking pot and loved it. Just because someone who doesn't smoke pot thinks something is stupid doesn't mean it isn't stupid even if you're high. The movie was stupid. It could've been great and fell flat.

I didn't get hit by no train!!

reply

If the movie only gets good when you're high, its a bad movie. And you are a bad person for suggesting it.

i laughed my ass off watching this film! the end song with the devil was truly hilarious the first time round. and ben stiller rocks

reply

Have to agree that this is possibly the worst movie ever made. First time I watched it, was on pain meds (Dilaudid). The second time, I wished I was on taking them again to get over the painfully horribly movie.

What type of blackmail does Jack Black have over Ben Stiller and Dave Grohl for them to be in this movie?

God.. this movie just sucked... and to use a line from the movie.

Satan, "Your Lame" could not have been more dead on directed at Jack Black and that other fat piece of bald $h!t

reply

Dave Grohl, Ben Stiller and the other A-listers who had a hand in this film all participated because they understand what Tenacious D has contributed to the entertainment industry. Their brand of comedy reminds everybody that the purpose of musicians, actors and anyone else in the industry is to provide enjoyment for the rest of us, and that entertainers should not take themselves too seriously. Many more celebs have supported The D over the years.

No surprise though that someone exhibiting drug-seeking behavior would not get into the movie. Your horrible grammer and lack of attention to detail shows that you are not concerned with the quality of what you produce. Your insulting a man based on baldness and fatness indicates that you believe women find you attractive, which they do not. The lack of rythm your in your post exhibits your lack of musical ability.

By far though, the theme most indicative of your personality is your concern for male celebrities and what projects they decide to be in.

Dude, if you're going to harp on someone's grammar, at least proof read.

Ok seriously just...get over it!

Some people find one thing funny as hell and others find it equally annoying and stupid. What are you gonna do, kill every one who voices an opinion different to your one if you don't like it? Just because you can't see the appeal of their brand of humour it doesn't mean it's not there. A film's degree of quality is always going to be objective.

Seriously all you sad people taking time to go to a web-site to write about something you don't even care about? What's the point? You have nothing worth contributing on this matter.

IMHO Jack Black and Kyle Gass rock my *beep* socks every time I listen to them and I liked the movie; deal with it!

reply

well you sir are stupid

reply

Ok I only had to read one sentence so I know all i need to know... YOU ARE A CRAZY MOTHER Fer I am sorry but this movie kicked A$$ ok!!!!! OK!!! so F any of you that think differently.

reply

As this poster so eloquently put it this movie does kick ass. I am a pot smoker, I have also seen this movie several times. None of which while high, I love this movie. The jokes are silly, and childish. But how much do all those stupid parody movies make? Also I don't understand why people are ripping on the ending, it was the most epic ending since the passion of the Christ.

reply

did some guy actually compare this *beep* to 'A Clockwork Orange'

reply

No. The person was talking about the scene where Jack gets beat up by "A Clockwork Orange" look-a-likes when he was on the bench.

But yea, I didn't really like this movie at all. The songs were really cool, I can't get "The Metal" out of my head. :P There were a few funny scenes, but not enough to make me want to watch it again.

That's just my opinion, I don't care if I get bashed by those who love it. What they say doesn't matter to me.

reply

OMG! Go watch Hope Floats. This movie was not made for Mother's that give their children Kool-Aid to drink, nay, this movie is made for Mom's that give their kids Rocket Sauce.

reply

lol... actually did watch Hope Floats... I usually like goofy, irreverant, stupid movies. This one was just one that I couldn't stand. From reading all the responses, that seems to be the response: Absolutely love and worship the movie, or completely and thoroughly despise. Maybe I'll give it another try sometime; maybe a different mood will change my apprecciation of the movie. As I said.. I love Nacho Libre, except the last 15 min.

reply

The HBO series was hilarious. The movie so-so..........

to quote JB "it's just a matter of opinion"

reply

There is your problem, you watched this movie as just another Jack Black movie. True Jack Black is in this movie, but this movie is about the "Greatest Band Ever...Period" Tenacious D. This movie was for the fans of the D. Jack Black wouldn't be where he is today if were not for Tenacious D.
Long live Rage Kage and Jables, they lead as Two Kings.

reply

I've never thought of that when seeing a movie; that the movie would be more about the subject than the actors who show up in it. I've never seen the movie on HBO, never even knew there WAS one until reading it here. A lot of times I DO get movies based on who's in it. I watched "Constant Gardener" for that reason, and did not like it, either. Somewhere along the way I stopped reading the "about" and just read the "who" on the top line above the title.

reply

not only is this for fans of the d, but also fans of metal in general. i can't get enough of this movie and i don't smoke pot at all. absolutely brilliant. "god i miss my sweet a$$ leg..." the end of this movie is spectacular...the rock off is beyond epic and so funny.
