Supermarket Sweet

I could've sworn this was a game show based in a supermarket.

It was. A person ran through a supermarket with the intention of spending as much money as possible. So for example people who go grocery shopping would go on the show and load up with expensive cheeses or things like that. Then I believe at the end of the show they would get the value of their cart in money and get to keep the groceries.

I remember it from when I was young. Some people had some quite bizzare strategies. Honestly, the best way to go would be to hit the spices. McCormick products are highway robbery. I have seen several of their products at more than fifty dollars a pound. And I'm not talking saffron here.

Yeah never thought of spices, I always thought the best thing would be the champagne/liquor aisles. Or cigarettes, but I'm not sure they'd like that on day time TV, showing someone piling a shopping trolley full of tabs.

I can just hear Dale Winton's disapproving commentary now....

I believe there was a limit of 5 of each item. Usually they would hit the hams, and turkeys and cheese, detergent, they would grind the coffee for the $100 bonus and grab the bonus inflatables.
