to be honest I think the whole movie (bad as it is) is meant to be toungue in cheek. there are a few brit actors in it as well (and one Scot) so you can't blame it all on the colonial cousins. the sets are so unlike anywhere in scotland, the accents are bad impersonations of Mel Gibson's, and the place names are totally ridiculous. it sort of removed any interest I may have had right from the start.

The bitch is back?
I haven't been anywhere.

I'm Scottish and didn't find this movie offensive at all.

I found this moive on channel 5 today and was laughing so hard at how bad it is that I just had to come onto imdb and check out the posts.

If anything the most deluded aspect of their tongue in cheek take of Scotland was the weather!

I laughed at their 'haggis' and obviously the accents and pretty much everything else.

I'm Scottish too.

What I found funniest was that they were playing on a park with grass.

2010.05.08: With it being the final day of the (UK)Prem' season tomorrow (Sunday) thus no Saturday football, I find myself reduced to watching this instead. Her 'indoors' is out shopping so until my lunch arrives, I'm at a loose end so it's "Hurrah!" for the best team in Portersburgh and "Boo!" at the blues.

Yes, Gooner_Ali,

Altough the ref was clearly biased. He decided that the tackle on the boy by the 'bad guy' (Scott Cleverdon/Alex Foote) was a red card offence, but surely he must also have sent off the dad (Nick Moran/Bryan MacGreggor) for the head butt?

The IMDB 'alternative versions' says "For the UK release to get a PG instead of a more restrictive uncut 15, a forceful head-butt was cut." The ref clearly saw this UK version. Perhaps in the other version the ref sees the head butt, sends off the dad as well, then it's 10 against 10, leading to a sad ending when the Blues win?
