The swastika is one of the most anchient symbols of peace and power in the world. It has been seen on ruins in Germany, India, Korea, and thousands of other anchient sites throughout the world, many dating back to before the last ice age. Germans have held the symbol sacred since before Christ and during the Christian era it was outlawed by Charlemagne in an effort to convert the Germans to Christianity. It was still revered though until the 1920s when the Nazis hoped to capture some mystical German symbolism. During WW1 some Germans might have used the Swastika as a symbol of luck on their planes but it would be restricted to small font on the fusilage and not on the tail which was reserved for the Iron Cross. The Iron cross was the Prussian symbol of military might which came to prominance after Prussia's victorys under Frederick the Great.
