I have just watched a short clip and am totally amazed now. I thought the movie must have an 100-million-dollar-budget but after looking up here I've seen that it cost only 18 million dollars. How is this possible? I thought Germany is an expensive country.

Yup. It's actually much cheaper to shoot films here in Germany (and most of Europe in general), as the crews are usually a lot smaller. The same goes for french cinema - some of their movies achieve absolutely stunning visuals on suprisingly small budgets.
There is no place in this enterprise for a rogue physicist!
You know why? Because this movie was shoot almost in Czech republic not in Germany. That is way is so cheap.:)
