Annoying fat guy and girl with bad teeth....

This movie was very dumb. Who cast these people????? First off, Harley, who is played by Justin Urich, is one of the MOST annoying characters I have seen in a movie in AGES! He wasn't even irritating in a GOOD comedic way...he was just annoying and I wanted him to get run over by the killers truck so bad through the whole movie. Also, what was up with the Sara character's teeth?!?! She had like GRAY teeth!!!!!!! I don't care how nice someone looks in a halter top-if they have gray teeth, they are NOT hot. LOL. Also, why did they have to make this movie such a complete rip of Joyride? Two guys driving cross country, throw in a girl, a psycho in a scary truck...sounds like Joyride to me-only this is movie we find ourselves cursed to watch a fatty in clogs making perverted jokes. Yep, that's right...CLOGS. Clogs and black linen pants that only reach his ankles-who dressed him? I think Harley's Clogs were the scariest part of this crapfest. Also, speaking of ripping off Joyride...there is even a hotel room scene where they rip off the "HOTEL ROOM COLOR" and through a whole scene the hotel room is tinted in a eerie green that is identical to a scene in Joyride. Why do people keep making these BEYOND mediocre horror movies?

reply

You're right. I just got done watching it and it reminded me of Joy Ride but with Cabin Fever's crappy sense of humor. I mean even if we were supposed to find this funny, it wasn't. This looked like a movie my friends and I would have made as a joke for a class project.

In the beginning, it wasn't half bad. Justin Urich's character was the best one out of the three to me. And that's not saying much.

I simply had to watch the whole thing to see how it would end up. And when I saw the bad guy's bloody mouth moving on the ground calling them wusses, it made me angry to know that this had just actually been made into a movie.

Damn it!

reply

Also, who played MONSTER MAN? Whoever it was did a terrible job...his whole walk was enough to make me want to give up my faith in good horror films. It was like the walk of Egor and a drunk chimpanzee combined. Harley, to me, was the worst person in the movie. His jokes were annoying, his face was annoying, and his outfit was annoying. He just plain annoyed the hell out of me. Anyways, it was a crappy movie and it should never have been made.

reply

Be fair. Cabin Fever is a damn good movie and its sense of humor is not even comparable to this s hit. What's everyone's beef with Cabin Fever anyway? Don't people realize it's not to be taken seriously? I mean, how many other movies feature Rider Strong from Boy Meets World giving a girl with a rotting inner thigh a hand job and sticking a screwdriver in a guy's ear? Sheer brilliance.

reply

"Cabin Fever is a damn good movie..."

No. It's horrendously bad.

reply

You're horrendously bad.

Cabin Fever!

This was a good movie, despite being a blatant combination of Wrong Turn, Dead End and Jeepers Creepers...

Hell, I think that may even have been the same house from Wrong Turn.

PS Aimee Brooks is hot!

reply

Yeah, for the most part I agree, this movie was pretty stupid. It was an obvious ripp on Joyride/Jeepers Creepers and Texas Chainsaw. That dude Harley was PRETTY DAMN ANNOYING, Adam was ok as the velcro fannypack totting virgin geek and i actually thought the girl that played Sarah or whatever her name was did a pretty good job. Not scarry at all, it was soo bad it was actualy funny. If you got a couple of hours to kill and theres nothing else on, this is a B movie (maybe C) thats good for a few laughs at the sheer ridiculousness.

reply

I hate to sound like an ass, but HOW DARE YOU SAY THOSE THINGS ABOUT AIMEE BROOOKS?????????????????????????????????? Sorry, I've been following her since DOOL, and I hate it when people critcize such an incredibel person!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! GRAY TEETH?????????????? Get your eyes checked you A-HOLE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

reply

No, perhaps if you were to look closer you would see that she did have grey teeth in the film. (SPOILER, if anyone cares..) Perhaps it was because her character was actually a demented redneck who was too busy with her far-fetched satanic ritual to have time for oral hygeine?

People need to take this film with a pinch of salt - it wasn't supposed to be a suspense filled horror movie! I agree that the fat guy was annoying and (SPOILER) i was sorely disappointed for him to be alive at the end, but for the most part this movie was very funny and is an especially good choice of film for when you are sitting around a little intoxicated with a group of friends.

I find this bashing to be funny... What did you all expect when you picked up a B-Movie called "Monster Man" that has monster truck chasing people??? A psychological horror?!! Hell no... Why is everyone shocked that it was influenced by joy ride, jeepers creepers, the hitcher, etc (the list goes on forever)......Now, there are a billion movies out there that have cars/trucks chasing down people... This movie wasnt the most original out there but i thought the ending was good because it was influenced by some horror classics and atleast they try to explain some reasoning behind certain scenes. This movie also had plenty of gore, enough jokes, eye candy for me, cool looking effects to make me enjoy the movie. When i watch a comedy/gore horror B-movie, thats what i expect.... I dont expect to see some psychological horror movie or the movie classics that were being compared to this.

PLEASE, will you stop that... For my part I wasn´t expecting anything, I rented this movie only because I thought it would be one of those lame horror-flicks I like! But noooo this was just (as said often before) A-N-N-O-Y-I-N-G..!!!

For example, the ending.. (BIG SPOILERS) When Adam was running over the guy, and then the night becomes day, and the fat guy goes like "Dude you can stop now" Or something like that... Then I tought for a moment hey the ending just might be aberable! Yay! *cheers* But no no no NO NO!!! Tehy managed to *beep* that up aswell!!

What Im saying is DONT YOU EVER whach that movie, not even for a chill-out fun horror entertainment.

Thank you for your time

reply

To be honest I found this film quite entertaining. Sure, it was a no-brainer and the plot wasn't exactly the most complex in the world but that doesn't mean you can't enjoy it. I don't see how so many people can be offended so much by a horror film that, by definition in no way takes itself seriously. Also, please stop referring to this movie as a Joyride rip-off. Have you ever by any chance seen a little known Spielberg film that goes by the name of DUEL.

In conclusion, I'd say if you like you horror movies, and don't mind if they don't exactly contain the most engrossing script in the world, then by all means check this out. There are MUCH worse films out there (the Scream series for instance)

reply

You're really saying that Scream is worse than Monster Man?????

That's *beep*

reply

I just think that while Monster Man isn't the greatest film in the world, it also doesn't take itself seriously. Scream on the other hand, for me at least is just painful to watch. It tries to be a serious horror movie yet fails to actually be scary, going more for the "made you jump" 1 second effect rather than anything actually scary. It's just a real insult some of the great horror movies to ump this piece of *beep* in with them, hence movies like Scary Movie having no trouble at all parodying it.

reply

Scream doesn't take it self that seriosly... It is supposte to make fun and twist around teen-horrorfilms.

Anyways, Monster Man is still one *beep* annoying movie : /

reply

Twists around teen horror films? It started the whole 90's teen horror films thing. There was nothing to twist. Ergo, it had to take itself seriously.

ANyway, I thought this movie, Harley especially, was hilarious. The part about Colonel Mustard had me cracking up for half an hour.

What's with the guy who said he didn't like it then went onto say it looks like something he'd make as a joke? WAs he implying that his sense of humor sucks or does he not understand that the people who made this movie DID make it as a joke?

reply

I didnt expect much from this movie, but was still disapoointed. I did except some crude humour and lots of gore. What did I get? First 45 minutes - pure boredom. Jokes that might make a 12-year old laugh and no gore at all. The second part was still full of annoying jokes but had at least a little bit of gore but not enough to redeem this movie! Overall 4/10.

There's only one reason that Justin Urich was cast in this movie- Jack Black was on vacation.

After reading what people thought of this movie, I'm just seriously confused. Did anyone seriously watch this not expecting a total comedy/B-Movie? That's what I was totally expecting, and that's what I got. I mean, fi you are saying that you were expecting something different, and were let down, what were you going off of? The trailer!? The trailer made this movie look like one of the worst things to grace films as a cheese-fest lame premise horror film, but what we got was a cheese-fest comedic B-movie.

reply

He was supposed to be annoying, and he was. It was funny. And the girl did not have bad teeth. Maybe you've been watching too many American magazines where all people got fake bleeched horseteeth.

reply

Well, you must admit then, whe did have fat legs.

reply

She wasn't fat anywhere.

I loved this movie and I think it was very original. First of all, I have never seen any horror movie with the killer driving a monster truck! That was so cool and original! Monster man did resemble Leatherface, but I think that was kind of intentional by the director, and plus, monster man's walk, to me, added to the character, it was cool. There are actually some parts that scared me too! I know! I don't usually get scared, so I was surprised. Anyway, all in all I think people should stop comparing this movie to all those others because this is the first movie, besides Cabin Fever, that I have seen mix a perfect blend of horror and true comedy! Just perfect!

P.S. I saw this great documentary on the birth of midnight shows in the sixties and seventies and they talked about these great gory, horrific, comedy movies, the first ones of it's kind: The Pink Flamingo and El Topo. Being a young film fanatic, I had not heard of these great movies, and I encourage everyone who hasn't heard of them pay respect to them by watching them. After all, they were the parents!

Look, i'm tired of hearing people saying crap that this movie was a friggen rip-off of joy ride, and jeepers creepers... BULLCRAP! Jeepers creepers and joy ride were already a friggen rip-off of Duel. Steven speilberg's duel. 1973, about some guy being stalked by some guy in a large truck, severly beaten, etc. Jeepers creepers used the same truck antics, along with joy ride. So god, get over it. What you think isn't a rip off might be. When you're comparing a rip-off to something real, don't make that something already a rip-off, ALRIGHT? God.
