does this game seem short to any of you?

I just rented it on Friday, and i beat it on Saturday. I've never played the original or any other Metal Gear game and i just beat it rather quickly. Then I realized, that if one were to skip all of the Codec messages and the cut-scenes, this game would be very very short. By the way, great game, enjoyed playing it, and wasnt disapointed by the shortness whatsoever. Just wondering if anyone had similar thoughts.

Yeah, it is pretty short for the kind of epic game it is. Like you said, it seems alot longer because of all the cutscenes and Codec sequences. The length was and is the only "flaw" this game has been pegged with. (The original was the exact same length and everything) Back when the first MGS came out in 1998, alot of magazines and the like gave it perfect ratings; I remember specifically one magazine giving MGS a 10/10 (and it received the very hard to obtain Perfect "Platinum Award") and under the section where it lists what is wrong with the game, all they could put was "could be longer".

What's good though about MGS and particularly The Twin Snakes with all the new features and tricks, is that it has a lot of replay value. Going through and beating it multiple times will unlock more stuff each time for the first 4 or 5 times through. After that, you can still have fun by collecting all the Dog tags (TTS only) and then something I like to do; just using the Stealth and Bandana items and having fun playing around with guards. Another fun thing to do is have fun shooting random items like fire extinguishers, computer screens, equipment, furniture, and the rats and crows that are all over the place.

Thats kidna weird, i rented it on Friday, and beat it on Saturday. And then i thought it was short too. Did you rent it from Blockbuster

reply

Nope, rented it from Hollywood Video.

Hi everyone, I'm new. As you can probably tell by now. It was short but it has a lot of replay value. There are things that you don't see when you first play the game.

If you watch the cutscenes and the codec's it's about 5 hours long...I think.

I thin kthey should've added new pats so it would be fresh to old players yet keep it the same. If yuo catch my drift...

Heh, first time I beat it I had roughly 11 hours of gameplay. 8 of those hours were cutscenes and 3 of them were actual gameplay. This is just a rough estimate, but it sounds about right to me.

Compared to the other ones in the series, yeah. I tend to watch all the cutscenes and call people on the Codec occasionally just to see what they have to say (for some reason). The gametime for this was just over ten hours. For MGS3 I think it was almost twenty-one.

In MGS3, the best people to talk to are: Zero, Sigint and listeningto Para-medic after the saving. At times Eva. Boss is boring.
