snake's hair

It said on gamespot I think that in the briefing scene in twin snakes, there's an explanation as to why snake's hair is different in this than in metal gear solid 2. I only have the original metal gear solid, so I just thought I'd ask, why is that? what does twin snakes say is the reason for it??
