Americans - The stupidest people on this planet!

From a review of "The Matador":

"This is an audience-pleaser through-and-through, but one wonders whether the title (which is appropriate but not catchy) may fail to entice viewers. In fact, it may keep some sensitive animal-lovers away."

Who but Americans could be stupid enough to even think that this is a bullring movie? Who else? - Nobody.

Thomas

reply

People are stupid who form their impression of an entire nation from what they see in the media. From the media, do you know what that is, who they are, what they are, what they do, and why they do it, what they say, and why they say it? Like maybe they might have some kind of agenda all their own?

reply

"stupidest" isn't even a word. Thomas, does it embarrass you that an American is pointing out how much of a moron you are?

I'm not American, but I thought matador is something about bull fighting. That's why I'm here. What else you infer from "matador"?

Now I know so I'm going to watch it.

PS: Proud of my stupidity. Keeps me happy!

reply

The stupidest people mouth off about things of which they know little - if you actually watch the movie, you will realise that bull-fighting is an element and is shown, so the reviewer makes a salient point.

How does the amount of knowledge one has of a sport that is hardly practiced outside of Spanish and Portuguese speaking countries determine whether one is stupid or not? Of course the answer is that it doesn't.

reply

Sport?? Hardly.

This will be the high point of my day; it's all downhill from here.

reply

Oh well, I´m not trying to provoke, but if you google the word (excuse me) "stupidest" and limit your search to USA, how many results do you get? ;)

Peace & out

reply

just over 3 million ;-)

reply

This visceral hatred for Americans is really something to behold - reminds me of the way certain ethnic groups used to be viewed during world history. Sad, really.

Come on, awready you guys. Enjoy this for what it is, and stop haggling about jingoistic crap. This is a really enjoyable movie, so do that. What the heck is the big deal? You may choose to like or dislike it, but hey, is it really that offensive? Just do it....

RE: WalrusSAS, I'm not calling anyone anything but I would like to point out that 'stupid' is an adjective and also a noun. Therefore as such the word 'stupidest' does exist.

P.S. I don't think 'Americans' are stupid. I believe that people just have ill informed thoughts.

reply

"Stupid" is an adjective, the noun is "stupidness" or "stupidity". The adjective has been used incorrectly without a noun, e.g. "hey, stupid" (obviously very poor grammar).

"Stupidness" is the superlative of "stupid", e.g. "I am stupid, John is stupider, but you are the stupidest" or "only the stupidest person would continue a debate when it had been demonstrated that their argument was wrong".

As to the discussion about Americans being the stupidest, I've no doubt that some of them do figure amongst the stupidest - along with the stupidest members of every other nation. I am unaware of any research that suggests that, collectively, one nation is stupider than another.

Now, if we were to widen the topic to 'gullible'. ;)

That's the stupidest comment on this board. Of course it's a word; what do you think it is, a rhinoceros?

reply

spoken like a true britfag

reply

I agree but nobody ever went broke underestimating the stupidity of the American people.

reply

I'm not american... and you're a cretin with such a generalization. Where do you get your facts?

I want you to hold it between your knees!

reply

Take it outside boys and girls. I enjoyed the ' Matador ' and can see how you would infer from the title that it is a film about bull fighting but if you watch a film without knowing anything but the title, methinks, you'll be in for some interesting viewing.

reply

Yep, us silly Americans. I mean, you'd have to be an idiot NOT to extrapolate the intelligence of an entire nation's population from a few lines of an obscure movie review!

They don't come any closer than that!

reply

"Who but Americans could be stupid enough to even think that this is a bullring movie?"

Um... if one were to just go by the title, without knowing anything about the film, then one MAY believe it was about bullfighting. There WERE some fairly graphic scenes of the toreadors killing the bulls. I'm not some animal rights moron or anything like that. In fact, I'm a hunter, but I did find the bullfight scenes mildly disturbing. (Important to the plot, though.)

Good god, you are a moron.
