There was no action or thrills

Like, I appreciate that the acting was decent, and there were some funny lines, and it was well made, but it was still an intensely boring movie. They include all this sex and profanity, not that I have any problem with that but it insured an R-rating, but couldn't work up the balls to show one actual HIT in a movie about a hitman? Well, OK, you see a car explode and you see a woman get shot (bloodlessly despite being hit with a rifle), but not a single hit with any sense of suspense or viscera. The only thrilling moment actually was the tree falling through the roof. Mr. Stick was like totally an easy kill, despite being the head of an international assassin agency? WEAK JUICE.

The only really valid criticism I see in your problems mentioned is with Mr.Stick's assassination, maybe he was too lightly guarded for a major player in the crime game, but regardless, the movie simply wasn't an action or adventure piece, it was a dark-comedy character study, which I understood pretty quickly. Just because it has Pierce Brosnan and involves a hitman doesn't necessarily mean that it's going to be action packed and balls to the wall insanity.

I didn't say it had to be action-packed, but deal with the subject matter hoenstly. If it's about a hitman, show some hits. The man kills people, the filmmakers shouldn't have tried to gloss over that by basically not showing him killing anyone just because they were afraid it would make him less likable, which I think is exactly what happened.

I'm just saying show a few hits to make it actually feel real, without that it just felt like well-acted fluff meant to appeal to wine-chugging yuppies.

The film showed several hits, real and fake. Sounds like you put in this movie expecting something completely different and were left disappointed because of this.

You lost all validity with me when you started out with "like".

This is one of the most underrated movies ever.

Maybe you should go watch a Jean Claude Van Damme movie or something.

Seems more your speed.

It's not suppose to be an action movie. To me Brosnan and Kinnears acting made the movie very entertaining.

@Gooyers38, your own preconceptions and expectations resulted in your apparent disappointment. For me personally, I prefer to go into a movie with as wide and blank a slate as possible.

The OP clearly does not see that this movie is a 'Comedy' first and foremost. it's NOT a serious hitman themed movie which is pretty much what the OP seems to want from it.

the hitman stuff was just part of the theme but it's built around the comedy and Brosnan/Kinnear work well together on screen which further amps up the movie. Brosnan is not playing his more usual suave self either as it's a nice change of pace for Brosnan.

personally i think this movie is memorable as it's between my 3rd-5th favorite movie of 2005...

1.Lord of War - 10/10
2.Munich - 8-8.5/10
3.Thank You For Smoking - 8/10
-.Angel-A
-.The Matador
6.War of The Worlds - 7.5-8/10
7.A History of Violence - 7-7.5/10
-.The Proposition
etc

also, it's within my Top 100-ish movies ever to. i have seen 1,850+ total movies.

p.s. the most memorable Pierce Brosnan movies for me are... 1)The Thomas Crown Affair (1999) (8.5-9/10) 2)The Matador (2005) (8/10) 3)After the Sunset (2004) (8/10). all three are within my Top 100-ish movies ever.
